Pet care experience

Lifelong dog lover & hiker

I’ve shared my life with dogs since I was five — chow chows, dachshunds, a cocker spaniel, and a miniature schnauzer — so caring for them is as natural to me as breathing. I know how to read a dog’s energy, keep them calm and comfortable, and make sure they feel safe and loved while you’re away. I’m active by nature: nature hikes, runs along the river, and long walks exploring the neighborhood are part of my everyday routine, so your pup will never be short on exercise, play, and fresh air. And when it’s time to wind down, I’m just as content curling up for a movie, a good book, or a home-cooked evening with a dog happily at my feet. Bottom line: your dog will be treated like one of my own - that’s a promise.

Javier and Sofia took wonderful care of Elsa! They were so attentive throughout her entire stay. Getting their daily updates brought me total peace of mind. I couldn't have asked for better care, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for loving pet sitters!

I highly recommend Javier R. as a pet caregiver. Javier is kind, dependable, and genuinely caring, and he has a natural ability to make both people and pets feel comfortable. He’s responsible, attentive, and someone I would trust to provide safe and loving care. Pet parents can feel confident knowing their pets would be treated with patience, kindness, and the same level of care he would give his own. I believe Javier would provide excellent service and be a wonderful addition to the Rover community.

Schedule

I work full time in Jersey City, but I’m lucky to share my home with my girlfriend, who’s every bit as much of a dog lover as I am. She works from home most of the time, which means your dog is rarely left alone and always has someone around for cuddles, walks, and company throughout the day. Between the two of us, we keep a very flexible schedule and happily build our routine around your dog’s needs — whether that’s early morning walks, midday potty breaks, set feeding times, or medication on a schedule. Mornings and evenings are reserved for longer walks and playtime, so your pup stays active, happy, and well cared for from start to finish. Just let us know your dog’s routine and we’ll match it exactly — the goal is for your dog to feel right at home with us while you’re away.

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a spacious walk-up studio with plenty of open room for your dog to stretch out, play, and feel at home — no cramped corners or cluttered spaces to navigate. The building is genuinely pet-friendly, and my immediate neighbors have a dog of their own. Safety is my top priority. I keep the apartment clean and dog-proofed, with no hazards left within reach, and I always keep a close eye on your pup — especially in the first day or two as they settle in. We’re a short walk from plenty of green space for daily exercise, and because someone is home most of the day, your dog is supervised, comfortable, and never left wondering where their people went. You’re always welcome to ask about my setup or share any specific needs — I want you to feel completely at ease knowing exactly where and how your dog will be cared for.

A typical day

Your dog’s day is built around movement and rest. We’ll start with a morning walk, then daily playtime to burn energy and keep their mind busy. Depending on their pace, we can do a midday or evening walk, a proper run for high-energy pups, or a relaxed stroll and some chill time at the big park nearby. Plenty of sniffing, plenty of attention, and lots of downtime in between.

Let me know if your dog has any special needs, medications, allergies, or behaviors I should plan around — the more I know, the smoother their stay. I’m comfortable with most dogs, big or small, and just ask that they’re reasonably social and up to date on vaccinations. Tell me their feeding routine, energy level, and any quirks, and I’ll match their normal day as closely as possible so they feel right at home.
