I have a 3 year old german shepherd that is very active and who I constant ensure he is using his brain in terms of his dog bowl puzzles or hiding snacks, or teaching and redoing a multitude of tricks. I will be doing the same for your dog. I have an ample amount of toys for your dog to utilize during their stay. If your dog gets attached, they can certainly keep the toy. I have an open field in the back where I live, and other open field areas within walking distance. Additionally, I have a large balcony with plenty of space and an accessible dog door for your doggy child to go in and out of whenever they please. I only allow access to this when I am home and when it’s not cold and raining outside.

Information Javien D. would like to know about your pet
Please share with me any dietary restrictions, allergies, or general precautious to know. Share with me any physical limits and if they have had a recent injury. Inform me of their usual daily routine. Does your dog get along with all breeds or barks with specific other breeds? Does your dog bark often, excluding, when hearing someone is at the door. What should I know about your dog that hasn’t already been asked?
A typical day
I always hide treats around the house and balcony to ensure they are using their instincts for searching and finding. I practice multiple, randomly times a day of words they have already learned. There are numerous open fields and parks near me to where it would be around a 20 minute walk to the furthest area, they would play, and then a 20 minute walk to return. I have an open field right behind where Iive for plenty of energy to be used. I also have my very active German Shepherd they would have as a buddy to play with.

Pet care experience
I have raised my own dog, who’s a German Shepherd since he was 5 weeks old. I have fostered dogs from local shelters in emergencies and non-emergencies. I have dog sat, boarded & dog walked for 6 years now for a wide-range of dog sizes and ages. Most dogs have been on the puppies or old age who need cautious care for which I have experience with. For house sitting or dog boarding your dog, I usually do a minimum of 3 dog walks a day for 20 minutes minimum if you do not have a fixed schedule. A 4th or 5th walk does happen depending on weather and the dogs energy. I have given oral & ointment medication and have cared for dogs with strict routines & vulnerable care. I have a 2-in-1 dog leash if you have 2 dogs for walking purposes. It’s very durable and I have used it with medium to large dog sizes. I do not bring my dog for any house sitting, dog walking, or drop-in bookings. For dog boarding in my home, your dog should have experience interacting with other dogs. I do require a meet & greet prior to accepting any bookings, however, for same day or last minute bookings, I am flexible. Certainly ask me any questions you may have.
Reviews
Javien was wonderful! Highly recommend.

Javien is amazing! He stepped in to care for our dogs for a few days at our place with barely any notice. Our dogs adored him right away! He also handled our dog’s diabetic needs, including insulin injections. Plus, he kept us in the loop with updates all day. We felt so confident that our dogs were in good hands, even when we needed a sitter last minute. We’re definitely going to ask Javien again for future pet sitter needs! Thanks, Javien!

Overall, Javien was a great pet sitter during the time he spent with our boys. However, I cannot in good conscience recommend booking with Javien. When I first looked at his profile and previous reviews, I saw a few that gave me pause, but did seem like there may have been some miscommunication between Javien and the pet owners, moreso than intentional or careless wrongdoing. Then, four days into our trip, Javien left our dog in his crate for 20+ hours. It took us 2 hours to get a hold of him once we realized, because my partner checked the footage from our security camera and found that he had not visited at all since the previous night. We had to throw out a message on social media and allow a complete stranger into our apartment to let our dog out, as the friends we usually ask to check on our pets if we're out of town, we're also out of town (hence booking a sitter on Rover). Of course, after 20+ hours in the crate, he then peed and pooped immediately in our apartment, which the stranger was kind enough to clean up. My biggest issue is that Javien made no effort whatsoever to communicate to us that something had come up. I understand that things happen, and life can be uncontrollable, but if I had just received a message in the morning that he had something come up, I could have, at the very least tried to book a couple of walks through Rover, so that my less-than-2-years-old dog, had not been abandoned the way he was. Javien is very kind, and did a great job with Rustin (our dog), who can be very anxious around new people. He did initiate a refund for the day that he missed on our behalf, and I appreciate the effort to make things right, I just wish it hadn't been at my poor boy's expense.
I booked Javien to take dog sit for my parents dogs for two days. My grandmother passed away so they needed a dog sitter so that we could all make preparations and attend the funeral. On the first day, Javien was a good dog sitter. My mom was micromanaging him and sending him some harsh messages through text, due to her personality and also due to the stress of her mother’s passing. I sent him a message apologizing for her behavior and and explained the passing of our grandmother and that the family was grieving, and he said he understood and that he would do his best to adjust. At midnight the night before the funeral, he texted me saying that he had to cancel the booking due to my mom’s text messages. While I understand that there is a limit to the rude and micromanaging text messages that someone can/should tolerate, this cancellation left us without a dog sitter for the day of the funeral.
