I am a teacher with my summers off. My daughters are in camps periodically, but we are largely staying local throughout the rest of the summer, and I have a number of house projects that will keep me based at home for most days.

I have a pet-friendly townhouse community that I live in. Safe, slow-moving cars, dog-walking areas with doggie bag stations, coupled with open grassy areas, and conveniently located near several close-by parks and even a dog park 10 minutes way. Other dogs are leashed in the community. If needed, your dog can be kept in our finished basement, with plenty of space to move around. In your home, if you prefer to have the dog walked nearby and/or caged at night, that will not be a problem.

Does your dog have any special needs or behaviors that I need to be aware of ahead of time? I prefer dogs that are hypoallergenic, as we are not sure if my wife is allergic to certain breeds of dogs that frequently shed, although that would not be prohibitive. Was your dog rescued from a shelter or were they previously abused before coming to you (in other words, is your dog(s) reluctant to trust new people)?
A typical day
We live in a townhouse community, with several courts and lots of sidewalks and walking trails. There is also a dog park near by that we can go to, as well as tracks and trails that are nearby or connected to community centers and libraries.

Pet care experience
I grew up having pets since I was born, including dogs, turtles, hamsters, guinea pigs and others. My daughters and I have taken care of our neighbors and friends dogs, and we have experience interacting with cats from my brothers and friends. We have a cat named Pumpkin and a guinea pig named Cozy, but my daughters are longing for any dog-sitting especially, so we have plenty of space, love and affection to spare, if needed.
