I am retired, so I'm home most of the time. I love dogs and really enjoy my occasional new friends when people use my services.

My first long-term experience as a dog owner began in 1986 when we bought our first home and Ginger, our Golden Retriever, joined the family. We had her for all of her over 13 years of life. Since then, I've adopted as the better alternative. My next dog, a Scottie named Pippen, came in 2005. He was a relinquished pet I found at the pound. Cancer took him in 2014. Before Pippen's passing, my daughter's dog, a little Teddy Bear mix they'd named Lego, came to visit and stayed. As Lego grew old, he lost his sight entirely and had to have one rear leg removed (8/2016). I had to set Lego free as of November 2016 after a slow decline. How I miss him! I had been volunteering fostering dogs until they found their forever homes. I what they call "failed" with one foster dog because I ended up adopting him. His name was Odie. He passed after some years with us. We had a "forever foster" (not up for adoption), a mini Schnauzer of over 16 years of age who has also passed. I adopted (2022) a sweet rescue dog, a then 9-year-old Pomeranian who was blind and deaf and had one tooth, but she was cute as can be. She passed (4-14-2024). I then became Lola's mom, a sweet, older, blind Boston terrier. She passed as well (9-11-2025). After Lola came to stay, I adopted my Jubilee (Jubi) from a rescue in Oct. of 2025. She's a chihuahua/Jack Russel mix (she was a stray, so that's a guess) and is almost 5 years old. I also adopted Leila, an old lady chihuahua, in January of 2026. So, currently I have two little dogs.

Rabies vaccination up to date (please bring certificate) ID tag on collar Please bring a list of any of the following: Any medical issues Any quirks or behaviors that I should expect and see as the norm for your dog. What might frighten your dog. Time your dog is accustomed to eating, going out. What kind of play your dog enjoys. Sleeping habits Anything else you deem important that I should know I have no breed preferences. I only watch smaller dogs up to about 20 lbs. because of my physical limitations. Must get along with other dogs. This is non-negotiable. Must be housebroken. I mean really!
A typical day
I am not able to walk a dog because of pain from arthritis. We have a big fenced yard where the pups can pee and poop and play, always supervised. Your dog's sleeping arrangement If your dog is in the habit of sleeping in his or her crate, bring it along if you like. If your dog has a soft bed he or she likes to lie on, bring that, too, or we have plenty of extra beds. Time I'll spend with your dog I'm home most of the time so time spent with your dog on most days would be 24 hours.

Pet care experience
Looking for a doggy-friendly place to have your best friend stay while you're away? I have plenty of room both indoors and out and access to play and pee and poop in a well-fenced yard. If you have a crate your dog is used to using, please bring it. I want your pup to feel at home. I speak both English and Spanish if that helps. We are near Midway airport and just off the highway if you're using O'hare.
Reviews

Janet is the best and very caring for any pet for sure.

Ms. Janet was amazing! My fur baby is older and very attached to me and Ms. Janet was great with making sure that Philly was comfortable. She also put me at ease with updates and pictures. I will definitely recommend her and use her again. I'm also considering daycare a few day a week.

Very caring and attentive pet sitter.

Janet initially was very responsive via the app. We arranged meeting times & answered all my questions . After being in traffic for over an hour I was concerned with traveling to the airport in the morning and she agreed to let him stay a day earlier than planned. This is why I gave her 1 star. After I dropped my Milo off she never communicated again. I quickly communicated about his food schedule right after drop off & she was immediately non chalant on the phone. I was a bit concerned then. I would call, she wouldn’t answer. When she did reach out she stated she didn’t know how to use the phone with a text all of a sudden. The only update I received was to tell me although I had a great dog she wouldn’t keep him again because he was not house trained. It concerned me that out of ANY communication she would give it was negative. I apologized to hear that he had been urinating in her home & proposed how often she’s allowed him to go outside as he visits family often & he doesn’t urinate in their house either. I also reiterated what’s in his profile that he goes every 4 hours. She didn’t confirm when she was taking him outside; only that he goes when she takes her 15 yr old dog out. It doesn’t feel good to get an update for the first time with a complaint & saying you won’t watch my baby again;”although he’s a friendly & great dog “. It made me totally uneasy the rest of my trip & I asked her to please show him some grace! If I wasn’t out of state I would have came to get him immediately. Since picking him up he’s not himself. He jumps when my son & I go to rub him & he walks with his head down passing us! He’s NEVER done that! It’s only been a couple hours since he’s been home but I’m really praying she didn’t kill his spirit. He also had an imprint on him from the tight belly band she put on him. I’m truly hurt by this all! I would NOT recommend!
