I’m retired and able to offer consistent, reliable care without a rushed schedule. I’ve looked after dogs (under 40 pounds, small to medium) and homes for friends over the years, including travelling to British Columbia for extended house sitting, so I understand the level of trust involved in leaving both your pet and your home in someone else’s care. I also regularly care for pets in my condo building - neighbours trust me with their keys and rely on me to look after their pets, who are comfortable and familiar with me. I’m comfortable with daily walks, feeding routines, and keeping things consistent so pets feel settled while you’re away. I pay attention to behaviour, surroundings, and safety on walks, and I don’t take unnecessary risks. I feel it's very important for dogs to have their walks and daily exercise.

I focus on keeping pets comfortable by sticking as closely as possible to their usual routine - walks, feeding times, and any specific instructions you provide. Consistency makes a big difference in reducing stress while you’re away. In your home, I’m respectful of your space and keep things clean and secure. I’m attentive to your pet’s behaviour and surroundings, especially on walks, and I don’t take unnecessary risks. If caring for pets in my home, I provide a calm, safe environment with plenty of attention and regular outdoor time. I don’t overcrowd or take on more pets than I can properly care for. You’ll receive clear updates so you know how your pet is doing.

I can’t say enough amazing things about Janet. Firstly, we are new to Rover and she assured us right away and provided such excellent information on how the whole process worked. She came to our home to meet our dog Ollie on two occasions, which allowed him and us to get very comfortable around her. In those meetings she was so naturally loving and nurturing to Ollie, which allowed him to trust her almost immediately. She listened intently on Ollie’s eating schedule, his medication routine, and his route for walking (altered due to his recently knee surgery) and she implemented all our requests while house sitting. She sent frequent pictures and updates (twice daily) to give us peace of mind that Ollie was doing okay in our absence, as he is a very nervous and anxious dog. We could see from these pictures and updates that Ollie was coping well in his new circumstances for the week. She also took excellent care of our home, keeping it clean, taking out our garbage, and essentially leaving it as we left it. Because of Janet we were able to really enjoy our vacation and it gave us extreme peace of mind that our home, and more importantly, our dog was safe in our absence. We would definitely reach out to Janet again in the future if we needed a dog sitter/ house sitter!

Schedule
I am available to walk dogs up to 40 lbs. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I’m retired, so I have a flexible schedule and can plan my day around walks, visits, and consistent care without rushing. I’m available for morning, midday, and evening walks or check-ins, and I can adjust timing to match your pet’s usual routine. I’m home most of the day, which allows me to provide steady attention and not leave pets alone for long periods. Because I’m not balancing another job, I can be reliable with timing, routines, and communication.
