Pet care experience
All pets need love and structure!
Hello! My name is Janelle, and I'm the sole proprietor of Air's Pet Care (find me on FB!). I'm a lifelong animal lover, and I believe that shines through in the quality of care for the animals I've looked after. My entire life I've been surrounded by many wonderful people who would do anything for their pets. My god mum owns her own dog training business in Airdrie. I do scent detection, trick & obedience training, and informal agility with Mila. I'm also licensed in K9 first-aid, once online in 2020, and most recently in-person through Canada K9 Lifeline in 2022. I am insured and bonded through ProFur. All boarded dogs must provided proof of current Parvovirus, Distemper/Hepatitis, Bordatella, and Rabies vaccines. All drop-ins must provide proof of Rabies vaccines.

Ratings and reviews
Janelle took the time to get to know our dog and helped her feel comfortable and safe from the start. She was very attentive and kept us updated throughout the stay, sending photos and letting us know how our dog was doing. It gave us great peace of mind knowing that she was being so well cared for. Janelle kept us informed of every detail, and we truly appreciated her kindness and dedication. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of her!

My pup had a wonderful time, came home exhausted and happy after a last minute sleepover. Janelle was wonderful; extremely accommodating when our plans had to adjust. Her experience with animals was apparent and gave me such confidence and peace of mind, even with my dog's quirks. Highly recommend!

Janelle was so sweet and accommodating, she sent us pictures of our pup Newton during his time with her, and he looked like he was having such a blast! ♥️

Janelle's process was a bit more involved than what we were used to, Odin really liked her though and she was very good with him when she came over. We got a happy pupper back and will definitely use her again!

Janelle is very knowledgeable about dogs and is a great sitter. Finn stayed with her for 2 days and I had no doubts that my dog was in good hands with her.

Our large breed dogs did great with Janelle and she leaves a great update after checking in on them. Grateful to know my dogs are looked after when I’m away!

Schedule
I currently have three pets of my own: a shy female tabby cat, a curious and fearless Paws & Claws male tabby, and a 22.4kg female Husky/Anatolian Shepherd/mix rescue that I got from Saving Grace in June '22 when she was approximately 1.5 years. I have been doing pet-care full-time since 2021. I do freelance art and graphic design - ask me about my pet portraits!
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I try to exceed expectations each time I work with a client. I can help maintain pet health by facilitating both mental and physical exercise, including socialization. Other specific tasks I can assist with include: administering prescribed medications; performing aquarium, vivarium, or other cage maintenance for non-furry family members; playing with animals to give healthy outlets; practicing learned tricks with dogs; even transporting pets to and from the vet office or groomers during your workday. Pets will be crated or penned when unsupervised for their safety, and the safety of my pets! You never know when a dog (even one without a history of chewing) will decide shoelaces or plants are yummy! I don't allow owners into my home for two reasons: my dog is really nervous around people, even locking her up she knows a new person is there and she gets really bad anxiety and I don't want to start your dog's stay with that energy; and I have a roommate with autism and that really increases her anxiety. If you want we can do a meet in my backyard, or I can take pictures of my livingroom and kitchen!

A typical day
I look at every outing as an opportunity to strengthen the bond between myself and the dog, and give this endeavor my fullest attention! I love doing training sessions with dogs, it helps increase their self-confidence, and deepen our bond. I typically walk my dog around Penhold, varying the routes to provide lots of interesting smells and sights. Walks with my dog are working walks, where we work on exposure to new stimuli, improving leash manners, and building confidence. If your dog has leash reactivity, please inform me beforehand so I am not caught off-guard! Due to liability concerns, I do not bring client dogs to the dog park or any unfenced area off-leash. If dogs require a larger run than my yard allows, I will gladly take them to my parent's yard, where they could meet her energetic and friendly Standard poodles, Sulta and Paprika for a playdate, pending owner consent. Though I pay close attention to individual dogs' conditions, I adhere to Veterinary-recommend guidelines regarding temperature and outdoor time - taking the RealFeel temperature, sidewalk temperature with my heat gun, precipitation and humidity, coat & breed, medical conditions, and more into account when determining if it is safe to be out for a period of time (walks, drop-ins, potty breaks). If you would like more information, I can send you my many resources on the topic! If it is too hot or cold for a walk, I make sure to provide even more physical and/or mental stimulation to the pups indoors.
