Hi! I’m Janel! What sets me apart from most Rover sitters is that I have no pets of my own and I specialize in overnight stays, though I am available for walks or drop-in visits for cats and dogs in the Uptown/Garden District area. I have 15 years of professional pet care experience, but I am also a PhD student. My work is flexible and mostly remote, allowing me to spend ample time with your pet. I provide individualized and professional service to each and every client. 🐕🐈⬛ Overnight pet care allows you to travel freely, knowing that your pet will be safe and cared for in an environment they are familiar with. Each overnight stay is tailored to you and your pet's personal needs and includes a morning and evening walk, afternoon potty break, all feedings, and regular status updates with photos keeping you informed of how your loved one is doing. I have over ten years of experience working professionally with animals. Taking care of your animals while you are away is a job that I take seriously. I offer the very best service and I am actively engaged with your pets. I will always keep you informed with how they’re doing and am available for you to reach out to if anything comes up that needs attention. I am not JUST a pet sitter. I will take care of your home as if it were my own. Deep freeze? Hurricane? Tornado? Packages? Plants? No problem! I can handle your home while you’re away. I have worked with dogs of all breeds, cats, pigs, horses, big cats, goats, camels, snakes, and other reptiles. I also have experience caring for senior dogs, puppies, rescue and shelter dogs with no bite history, dogs with disabilities, and administering medication. I take care of cats too and can provide simple drop-ins or full-scale house sitting so your little one is never lonely. 🐱 Additionally, I offer hourly pet sitting and hotel pet sits with rates that accommodate your pet’s individual needs. Please note that if your pet cannot be left alone for periods of four hours or less, this is considered *constant care.* These requests will be considered on a case by case basis and will be charged at a higher rate than my holiday rate and base rate price, depending on your pet’s specific needs. These requests will only be accommodated if my schedule permits and I have no prior commitments that would conflict with your pet’s care, so I suggest booking requests early. All first-time client booking requests require a meet and greet to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone involved.

Janel was a pleasure to work with - as everyone who is visiting this site knows, these are our babies that we must leave when we travel. It can bring anxiety to the parents & pups and this was not the case with Janel.... I can honestly say that I've never been so at ease while travelling knowing that Janel was taking care of them. She was awesome from the first interaction. She communicated thoroughly, consistently and was very detailed leading up to, during and following their stay. We have avoided some travel when/if we didn't have a friend or neighbor to take care of our pups - but this has been the best experience and we are so very grateful to her.
We had NO WORRIES throughout our Mardi Gras festivities while Janel was looking out for our pup. She came 4 times and everything went perfectly. We got notified of start and end times of visits, we got cute pics during the check-ins, and she even took the initiative to take down our deck umbrella and plants that could have been blown over during the very strong winds that came in. Janel was wonderful with our little dog petunia. we lost our previous Sitter because she moved and I found Janel. She first had a brief meet and greet with us to see how petunia did. It’s a great idea and worked out. Wonderful petunia was very relaxed with Janell. Janel is very professional and kind. Petunia was very well taken care of and I would highly recommend her to anyone. My husband and I are extremely particular with our dog and I was extremely happy to find Janel. Michelle ❤️🐶
Janel was an amazing pet sitter for my 11 week old puppy. She followed up with me the day before to confirm the appointment and sent multiple photos of my dog. She was amazing. I would recommend her to anyone.
Janel was a delight! She made herself available for last minute, late night dog sitting so we could go to the Krewe du Vieux parade. It was such a relief to not feel like we had to rush back home for Redbone. With Janel, we knew he was in capable and kind hands. The two bonded the moment they met, and she sent update pics throughout their night together. We'll definitely ask Janel to hang out with our pooch again soon.

If I’m doing a house sitting job in your home, all I need is wifi and we are set up for a great stay while you’re away! If your pet has special needs and requires more attention than a morning and evening walk, then we can absolutely discuss this on an initial phone call prior to booking. It is important that there is a clear understanding of your expectations so that your pet can get the care and attention they require.

Safety, trust & environment
I watch pets in your home and give each pet plenty of exercise and attention. I also water plants, take in mail and packages, and bring in/out garbage as needed. Any other special services you need pertaining to your home or pets can be discussed. When you book with me, your pets are being entrusted to my care. Therefor, they will not be watched by anyone but me. I also avoid dog parks and other pups on our walks to ensure your loved one doesn’t have any unwelcome altercations while you are away. I am Pet First Aid and CPR Certified.
A typical day
Each stay is designed to fit your needs. I believe dogs need tons of exercise to stay happy and healthy, age and weather permitting. Updates are sent to you at least twice a day with photos and status reports of your pet’s well-being. There’s also fetch and lots of cuddles.
