Pet care experience
Hound Lounge ❤️
As a long term owner & lover of hounds, I have a deep understanding of their unique needs & sensitivities. I’m home-based & with mine most of the time, so I decided to open my doors to more. I’ve found it can often be challenging to find sitters who truly understand how these beings tick. I’m definitely a hounds over humans kind of person & never tire of spending time around them & getting to learn about their quirks. I specialise in the care of Greyhounds, Whippets, Saluki’s, Italian Greyhound's, Galgos, Deerhounds, lurchers & at the opposite end of the spectrum- little Dachshunds. I have owned a Deerhound in my time, & currently own two Saluki’s & a little sausage. I also have years of experience under my belt with my sister’s rescue Greyhounds, who each came with their own stories & considerations to navigate. My Saluki’s enjoy being around other hounds, though they are well versed in understanding that the final word belongs to the Sausage! (this also applies to the humans in the house…)

Jane and her partner were fantastic! I needed last minute care for Fudge due to some family circumstances and she was open and willing to take him in and comfort him through his separation anxiety. Their home is inviting and the dogs are friendly, they really put me at ease as well for leaving him. I got lots of updates and he had heaps of fun!

Can’t recommend Jane and her lovely family more as pet sitters. Jane made Gizmo feel at home and relaxed from the start of his stay and her home is so safe and comfortable for him which put my mind at rest so I could relax on my holiday without worrying about how he was getting on. Gizmo is blind and Jane was so thoughtful and patient in dealing with the extra issues that brings. I got regular updates and pics of Gizmo which was great. I would not hesitate to recommend Jane to anyone requiring a safe, loving environment for their dog and would definitely use her services again

Jane and Matt took the best care of our dog Rudi. He’s a rescue we’ve only had for 6 weeks so has some training and socialisation issues. This was no bother to them and in fact they totally embraced him! They provided him everything he needed and more. He clearly loved his stay with them!

Chip had a fantastic day with Jane and the family..I'm incredibly anxious when leaving him with others, but Jane and her partner both met me with their dogs for a walk before the intial day, which helped. He spent the day pondering about their garden, being general toy stealer. Will be 100% booking them for an overnight for our holidays.

I can’t recommend Jane highly enough, especially for anyone with sighthounds. She has cared for my rescue greyhounds multiple times, and her depth of breed-specific knowledge truly sets her apart. With their unique histories and sensitivities, having someone who understands rescue sighthounds isn’t just helpful, it’s imperative. Jane really understands my 45-mile-per-hour couch potato greyhounds and creates a calm, secure environment where they can relax and fit right in. They genuinely love staying with her- lounging, playing in the garden and spending time with her hounds. Knowing my dogs are with someone who truly understands both sighthounds and the nuances of rescue care has completely changed how I feel about traveling for work or holidays. I used to feel a lot of stress leaving them behind; now I have peace of mind knowing they’re not just cared for, but truly understood. Jane is a rare find.

Schedule
I work from home & am around for the hounds 24/7. I am incredibly fortunate to have access to a secure dog field each morning, so a typical day involves giving them a free run in the morning & back for chill time. I’m located opposite a park so extra mooches if required are readily available.

Safety, trust & environment
I’m guilty of going a little overboard to create a calm space for hounds to relax. We have beds everywhere & they are free to roam in & out of the fully fenced garden as & when they please (when dry of course). On good days they’re free to lounge in the sun. For indoor snooze time, snuggle blankets are non-negotiable & relaxing dog music is often played. Ridiculous I know, but they love it! If you require sitting in your own home, I would be keen to learn all about your hounds routine & needs, & will happily follow their rule book.
