I like to do a meet and greet at your home before we book, so that you can walk me through your pet’s routine, behavioral profile, health concerns, and introduce me as a friend in a safe, familiar place. Every animal will have a personalized approach, tailored to their specific needs. I only take one animal at a time for boarding services so I can concentrate on that animal for the whole of their stay. If you book drop in services, my goal for you to come back to a pet that is not only safe and well-fed, but also happy. If approved, I bring treats with me on the first meet and greet to make sure everything starts off on the right foot. Please let me know if your pet has any food restrictions.

Information Jandy J. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pet has any health issues, dietary restrictions, or is immunocompromised. Please disclose any bite history or triggers that cause your pet anxiety or reactivity. This info helps me understand their sensitivities and health histories so that I can be proactive and thoughtful about my approach, and keep your pet as safe and as happy as possible. I also ask clients to leave me with their preferred emergency vet information, and to think about leaving with their vet a pre-authorization for treatment in case of emergency.
A typical day
Every animal is an individual, and some may take longer than others to warm up. My goal is to first bring calm and safe energy, and allow your pet to approach and investigate me until they are comfortable. From here, I take their cues about what kind of engagement they are ready for, and I meet them in that space. With each visit, I build upon the interactions from before, until before long, your pet sees me as a safe and trusted friend! When your pet is ready to engage, I'm always ready to run around and play w/ the hyper, or get cozy and snuggle for those who want lots of pets. I am big on enrichment activities and mental stimulation for your pet! Whether it is a 30 min walk or visit, my entire focus will be on their well being, their particular needs, and I will *always* provide you with photographs/videos of the fun we have together.

Pet care experience
First, I know pet care can be a big investment, and if you’re here, it means you truly love your pet. That’s why I work hard to make my services not only exceptional, but also as accessible as possible. I consistently run promotions for my ongoing clients and new clients. Below are some of the promotions I’m currently running, and following that, a little bit more about me. 🐾 *Take 15% off every booking made for January through March of every year-no exclusions, no fine print. *Take 15% off all services when you book recurring care or schedule two or more trips at once. *New to Rover? Take $20 off your first booking by applying JANDYJ42751 at checkout. About me: I love all animals great and small. When it comes to canines, I especially have an affinity for wolfdogs and other northern / mountain breeds (this is to say, I’m very good with dogs who have minds of their own, and also those that may be described as stubborn or with having social anxiety by their owners). Socializing animals and teaching them it’s ok to trust again is most rewarding part of the animal rescue work I do, so if your dog is struggling with a behavioral or social issue, know that I’m not intimidated by a challenging case, and always so happy to help. As a wellness & behavior expert, I also offer individualized behavior modification plans, nutrition plans, and complete wellness plans for animals that may be suffering with chronic illnesses such as pancreatitis, IBD, diabetes, CKD, cancer, etc. I also provide specialized care for cats with medical or behavioral needs. I have extensive experience with medical fosters, neonatal kittens and feral cats alike. I’m passionate about my work with cats, and pride myself on being able to assess and adjust to their individual needs, building a relationship at whatever pace they are comfortable with, and adjusting my approach and enrichment plan accordingly to their personalities, likes and dislikes. If your cat needs daily SubQ fluids, insulin shots, medication, and has been described as difficult or reclusive by others, my approach won’t be to force them to comply to my will. I will instead condition / counter-condition them to the experience making it less scary, and more pleasant when possible (I have a lot of tricks!), and gaining consent by earning trust. In short, you can trust leaving your animal with me to administer medications will *not* be a traumatic event. On the contrary, my goal is not only to take care of your pet’s physical needs, but their emotional ones. As an animal naturopath, I offer many animal care services including pet sitting, so if you have an unusual request, don’t be hesitant to ask. In addition, I’ve volunteered at Lake Tahoe Wolf Rescue for the last 10 years, as well as Front Street Animal Shelter for the past 10 years as a medical foster, neonatal action team (kitten connection), and a kitten foster. I have also rehabilitated, socialized and fostered dogs and cats, along with other animals/wildlife. Personally, I’ve owned a large variety of animals, including rabbits, rats, and birds, in addition to cats and dogs. I know how difficult it is to leave your pet when you go away, especially if that pet has any special needs. My goal is to provide such top tier care, that even the most devoted pet parents don’t have to worry one bit while they are out of town. I will love and care for your pet as if they were my own (and pour my life blood into curating that relationship if I have to!), and send you as many photos/videos/updates as you can handle!! Extras ~ *Offering free meet and greets *Specialized services include: *Behavior Modification Plans *Harness Training (cats) *Basic command & leash training for dogs *Personalized Nutrition Plans *Complete Wellness Plans *Transport *Nail trimmings *Med. Management
Reviews

It's clear the amount of care and undertanding Jandy has of animals with the way she interracted with my cat. Not only does she spend significant time getting to know them and ensuring the human that their fur baby is in good hands, she also built my cat a blanket fort for enrichment while I was gone. It was very sweet and I know my cat was in good hands.

First walk went well for my little old man dog. Jandy and her fish treats were appreciated.

Jandy is on time, professional, easy to communicate with, and went above and beyond for the drop-in session. Definitely recommend.

I've worked with Jandy a few times, she's reliable and I'm comforted knowing my cat is in good hands. My cat isn't very friendly to outsiders but Jandy has been patiently building trust. Thanks for caring for Astro again!
