I aim to follow whatever routine you've set for your pet, and get as much information about their needs, quirks, preferences ahead of time, so that you can spend your time away worry free, knowing that I have the information needed to make your pet comfortable and supported during my time with them. I work with each pet family to set communication preferences, whether that is check-ins at specific times, a daily update, or more frequent communication, and send photos/videos throughout the day. While some families prefer continuous updates, others like a sitter who has the information to handle pet care without having to answer questions while away, and I try to gather all the info I can when we connect initially to be able to care for your pet and communicate how best works for you.
Information Janavi M. would like to know about your pet
Working off a schedule or guidelines usually works best for both your pet and for me, and I'm happy to ask the questions to help put that together if needed. The more I know about their usual routine and quirks, the easier it is for me to adapt their care effectively. Some helpful information for me includes any triggers or situations where they tend to get stressed, and if they have any comfort toys or treats. If I have to leave the house, are they crate trained (and for how long) or do they like to free roam? What areas of the house are off-limits to your pet and are there areas they like to get into or items they mess with (but shouldn't)? How do they do on walks and around other dogs? Do they like going to the park and socializing or are they happiest with human company?
A typical day
Every pet is different, so I tend to follow your pet's lead and their typical schedule. If they are a morning napper, we'll curl up on the couch, but if they're bursting with energy, then we'll run around with the ball or play tug of war. Sometime pets can be anxious when they're not around their family, so some extra care around meals or some comforting cuddling might be called for. I try to adjust walks and outside time around the temperature so that our four legged friends stay cool and hydrated in the summers, and be mindful of the chill in winter for smaller dogs who struggle with it.

Gentle High Needs & Senior Pet Care
Pet care experience
Newish to DC, I've been caring for dogs and cats for over ten years, and meet every pet and family where they are at, adapting to their routines, energy levels, and specialized needs. I find a lot of joy in caring for higher needs pets, who benefit from a tender, steady presence while their family is away. As I work from home full-time, I can adapt my schedule around your pet's needs and provide consistent companionship throughout the day. I've cared for puppies with separation anxiety, a dachshund with fussy eating habits, an anxious pit bull with an involved medication regimen, and accident-prone senior dogs - and have loved working with all of them, while being the reassuring carer that their families can rely on while they are away. I also have lived with and cared for many cats over the years, and love helping them hold down the fort while the family is away. Whether a cat wants to play and socialize, or just needs a friendly, caring presence until their family returns, I meet them at their comfort level. I know that many feline friends are particular about how their food, water, and litter is set up, and I do everything I can to ensure that everything is set up to their satisfaction.

Reviews

Rin was amazing with my dog, Max! She watched him in my apartment for a few days while I was away on a work trip and she took such great care of him. She even stayed later than originally planned on the last day so that he wouldn't have to ride out a thunderstorm by himself. I came home to a very well-loved pup and a spotless apartment! I will definitely be booking with Rin again soon!

Rin went above and beyond caring for Sugar! Sugar was so sad to see her new friend at the end of the weekend. Highly recommend!
Rin was amazing, she communicated well & was very comforting to my anxious dog while staying at my apartment. She administered his daily medication with ease and made sure all his needs were met. She left the space clean and tidy after her stay and I would absolutely recommend her for your next sitting need!
Janavi has been an exceptional dog sitter. So much so my dog is visibly a little disappointed when she leaves, and always happy to see her. When Roxy (my dog) was adjusting to a new house, and then her owner gone for the weekend, she was severely anxious. However, Janavi went the extra mile by keeping me updated and planning with me over the phone all the things at her disposal to soothe my dog, including exact dosage of medicine. I would 100% trust Janavi with my dog again.
