Pet care experience
A pet-lover you can trust
MY CURRENT POLICIES: *Holiday rates: Rover automatically applies holiday rates over the entire span of your pets stay when it includes a holiday, which then appears as an overcharge. If your request includes a holiday, please message me for a lower, more accurate quote. I am happy to make an adjustment. *CRATING: I do crate all pets I sit whenever I need to leave the house and also at night during sleep. This is to help ensure a safe and clean environment for your precious fur-baby. Therefore, all pets under my care MUST be able to tolerate a crate overnight. *PIT BULLS: For safety concerns, I do not accept Pit Bulls and other Bully-type breeds: 🐾 About Me I genuinely love caring for animals and have owned dogs and cats my entire life. I currently share my home with two large-breed dogs (Rhodesian Ridgebacks, ages 7 and 10) and a 4-year-old rescue Toy Poodle. I’ve raised my Ridgebacks since they were 8 weeks old, and I adopted my poodle in 2024—so I’m very familiar with the unique needs of both puppies and senior dogs, as well as the differences between large and small breeds. 🐶 My Experience I’ve cared for pets of all sizes for friends, family, and many clients. My approach to pet care is rooted in understanding canine body language. I pay close attention to signs of stress, discomfort, fear, contentment, and relaxation by watching facial expressions, posture, and behavior. Since pets communicate through their bodies, I believe this skill is essential to keeping them comfortable and safe. 🛡️ Safety First: Your pet’s safety is always my top priority. Much like caring for small children, I make sure I always know where your pet is and what they’re doing. I work to prevent unsafe situations before they happen and maintain a calm, secure environment at all times. I have researched pet first aid techniques and have had to perform the Heimlich maneuver twice on my own large breed dog when I found him choking on a treat. Thankfully, it was successful both times. 🐕🦺 Rescue & Volunteer Work: I give back by volunteering with: • Southern Region Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue / Paws Between Homes – fostering dogs in transition • Royal Animal Rescue – driving long distances to transport animals to and from rescues, fosters, and medical facilities I’ve fostered numerous dogs awaiting adoption and have also assisted rescues by conducting home visits to help evaluate pet environments. 💛 What You Can Expect: I will love and care for your pets as if they were my own. Whether your fur-baby needs extra attention, a calm and patient presence, or a secure and nurturing environment while you’re away, I’m here to help.

Jan was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, she was incredibly responsive and kept me updated throughout the entire weekend. I really appreciated how she sent pictures and communicated so well—it gave me total peace of mind while I was away. My pet was clearly in great hands, and I could tell she truly cares about the animals she watches. I highly recommend Jan to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and professional sitter. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!

Jan is great! My dogs love her 💯 . I’ll definitely ask for her again.

This was my first time using an in-home sitter. Jan was friendly, professional, and flexible. We met a few weeks before my dog's stay to get acquainted. She has plenty of space and lots of dog-related items. My dog was with her for four days and she sent me updates regularly. I will definitely book with her again.

Jan has been a "God Send". I no longer have to worry about my 13-year-old baby when I go out of town because I know she is in excellent hands. Lexi and I appreciate you so much, Jan❤️🙏🏾

Thank you, Jan so much. We appreciate it. You’re wonderful.

Jan is amazing! This was the first time that we’ve had to leave Lilly with anyone and we were very apprehensive. We meet with Jan a few days before our trip and we knew Lilly would be in great hands. She definitely put our minds at ease. We will absolutely be using her again and again whenever we need someone we trust to take care of our Lilly.

Schedule
Schedule: As a retired military veteran, I enjoy staying active and have a highly flexible schedule. This allows me plenty of time to be attentive to your pet’s needs and provide a loving, nurturing environment throughout their stay.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
Safety, Trust & Environment: I have a spacious home and a large fenced backyard. My two large dogs spend most of their time outdoors when the weather is nice, while my small dog—my little sidekick—stays indoors with me. All of my dogs get along well with others, but I’m very mindful of each pet’s individual temperament. Every dog has its own personality, triggers, and comfort levels, so I introduce pets to one another slowly and intentionally to avoid any unnecessary stress. If needed, I can keep my large dogs separated so that smaller guests can enjoy outdoor time without feeling intimidated by the bigger dogs’ playful energy. Inside the home, there’s plenty of room for crates, beds, and toys. Small dogs in my care enjoy a comfortable indoor environment, constant supervision, and a peaceful routine. During the day, they stay with me in my home office or are safely crated if I briefly step away. At night, all pets sleep in their crates and are monitored via video and audio. They also get plenty of supervised, off-leash time in the backyard to explore and enjoy themselves.

A typical day
A Typical Day: I love spending dedicated one-on-one time with each pet. Daily activities keep them both physically active and mentally stimulated, which helps reduce boredom and separation anxiety. My neighborhood is quiet, low-traffic, and perfect for peaceful walks.
