Safety, trust & environment

There are many things to consider as far as safety. I am respectful of your babies' boundaries. I let them approach me and "sniff" me out. I never want to infringe on their territory. During walks, I am mindful of my surroundings; avoiding any interactions that could arise when there are people or other dogs nearby. I watch for traffic and making sure your baby does not try to lunge out towards moving vehicles. WEATHER CONDITIONS: it's extremely important to avoid or limit walks during extreme weather conditions. For example high temperatures, some dogs do better than others in the heat. I am cautious when walking in heat above 80F, Dogs are just as susceptible to having heat stroke. Cold weather is just as dangerous; especially for breeds that aren't acclimated to it. I never want to walk a dog in temperatures below 20F; even if they are bundled up. I limit walks to 10-20min when the temperatures are between 20-40F and temperatures between 80-90F, depending on the breed. Dogs are just as susceptible as humans to hypothermia and frost bite. I allow them to go out long enough to go potty and come right back in. Whether it's hot or cold, I recommend that my clients pay attention to their babies' feet and provide some form of foot protection. Things like walking on ice or salted areas can cause damage to the feet. During the nicer weather, wiping their babies' feet after walks is important because they may come into areas where the grass has been fertilized.

Information Jamie H. would like to know about your pet

It's important to know if there is a special diet, any medications/medication schedule, and who to contact in case of an emergency. Are there any specific things I need to know to approach your "baby"? It's especially important to know their personality type and any medical conditions.

A typical day

Play time and Cuddles! Fetch or hide-n-seek are always fun activities while I am pet-sitting. Some of my clients have puzzles for their "pups"; which is very good for engaging and occupying the pup. I love to give cuddles and go for walks when the weather permits. For my walking kiddos, if the weather is not conducive for walking, I will take them out long enough for potty time and spend the remainder of the time just hanging out and playing.

Pet care experience

Before beginning my career as a pet-sitter, I served in the United States Air Force working in various capacities. The latest one being in health administration; which led to my civilian experience working in a hospital. After a lengthy hiatus, I was brought into the world of veterinary care. Now, I can’t imagine doing anything else. I gained much of my hands-on experience working in veterinary care since 2015. I've had many of my own pets and continue to care for domesticated/feral cats. When I first started working at Holt Veterinary Clinic under Dr. Fauser, I was in charge of cleaning the clinic and animal boarding. After being employed there, I worked my way into being a receptionist and developing the skills as a veterinary assistant; blood draws, lab testing, dispense medications, give oral medications and insulin injections, draw up vaccines, and assist the doctor in cat and dog handling.

Jamie took care of our 2 senior dogs, that both required some extra care. One of our dogs is blind and diabetic, requiring insulin injections twice daily and Jamie did an amazing job with his injections. Our other dog has both AM and PM medication routines and once again Jamie did great managing his medications too. Our pups both looked very happy in the pictures we received and Jamie was great with communicating about her visits and any questions she had. We will definitely be rebooking with her in the future!
