Availability
Pet care fits very naturally into my daily and weekly routine. I’m currently in between jobs, which gives me open and flexible availability for walks, drop-ins, and consistent care throughout the day. I enjoy building my schedule around pets’ routines rather than squeezing them into limited windows. Because of this flexibility, I’m able to accommodate morning, midday, evening, and weekend visits, as well as last-minute requests when needed. I value reliability and consistency, and I like knowing I can give pets my full attention without rushing.

Safety, trust & environment
When caring for pets, I work exclusively in my client’s home, where pets are most comfortable and routines stay consistent. I follow all instructions closely regarding feeding, walking, medications, and household rules, and I’m very mindful of maintaining your space exactly as you left it. Safety is my top priority. I make sure doors, gates, leashes, and harnesses are secure, double-check medications and feeding instructions, and remain attentive to any changes in behavior or health. I take a calm, respectful approach—especially with senior pets or animals who may be anxious or shy. I understand that trust is essential when someone is caring for your pet in your home. I communicate clearly, provide updates as requested, and treat both your pet and your space with care, responsibility, and respect.
Information Jamie S. would like to know about your pet
It is helpful to know your pet’s daily routine, feeding schedule, walking preferences, medications, and any health or behavioral considerations. I also appreciate knowing what your pet enjoys, what stresses them out, and how they typically react to new people. Clear instructions about home access, leashes, litter boxes, or feeding supplies help ensure smooth and consistent care.
A typical day
I tailor activities to each pet’s age, energy level, and personality. For dogs, that usually means enjoyable walks at a comfortable pace, time to sniff and explore, light play, and plenty of positive attention. For senior dogs, I focus on gentle movement, enrichment, and keeping routines consistent. For cats and other pets, I keep things low-stress—interactive play if they’re interested, enrichment through routine and calm engagement, and quiet companionship for pets who prefer their space. My goal is always to make visits feel familiar, safe, and enjoyable rather than overstimulating. Above all, I pay attention to what each pet enjoys most and meet them where they’re at.

Experienced, All-Around Pet Care
Pet care experience
I’m a lifelong pet owner and caregiver with experience across a wide range of animals. Dogs have always been at the heart of my life—I currently own a senior dog named Ralphie, and my last four dogs were all adopted as seniors. I’m very comfortable with walking, feeding, administering medications, and following detailed care routines, especially for older pets. I also grew up in an extremely pet-centric household. At one point, my family cared for five dogs and four cats at the same time, so I’m very familiar with busy, multi-pet environments and the structure required to keep everyone healthy and happy. Beyond dogs and cats, I’ve helped care for fish (both freshwater and saltwater), reptiles and lizards, rodents, and birds, and I understand that each species has unique needs, routines, and sensitivities. I’m calm, attentive, and respectful of the fact that pet parents care deeply about how their animals are treated. My goal is simple: provide reliable, thoughtful care so your pets feel safe and comfortable—and you feel confident while you’re away. Please note that I also carry liability insurance above and beyond what is already offered under Rover’s guarantee policy.

Reviews

This was a very last minute booking and James was so kind. Did a quick meet and greet and took care of my dog exceptionally well. Will definitely be booking with James again in the future.

Very kind and did great with my dog! Communication was great, and he made sure he had all necessary information to give proper care!

James was great with my big dog, he was on time and got my dog nice and tired each walk. My dog is a pain in the butt, and James managed him easily and with care. I would recommend him as a trustworthy, dependable, animal lover. We had a change in the schedule and James was easy to commumicate with, fast to respond, and flexible with his time. I appreciate him and I know my dog does, too!
I have known James for years and I've trusted him to watch my two dogs a number of times. I have one dog who is difficult to watch and is very reactive, but I've always trusted James!
