Availability

My evenings open up at 8pm once my family is settled in, which means I’m available for that last walk before bed, the dinner-time check-in, or the after-work visit your dog can’t get from a daytime sitter. Standard availability: Sunday through Saturday, 8–11pm. Weekend afternoons sometimes open — message me. New clients: 4 hours’ advance notice gets you on my calendar, same-day if I’m free.

About James P.

Safety, trust & environment

Drop-in visits happen in your home, so my focus is keeping things exactly as you left them. I re-secure every door and gate, follow your written instructions to the letter, send photo updates during each visit, and keep walks on-leash unless you tell me otherwise. As a licensed business owner who runs crews on customer properties every day, treating someone else’s space with care is second nature. Background-checked through Rover, and happy to do a free meet-and-greet before your first booking.

Information James P. would like to know about your pet

Before your first booking, the more you share the better I can care for your pet. Helpful to know in advance: any medications or feeding schedule, behavior around other dogs or strangers, leash habits and triggers, food allergies or restrictions, your vet’s contact info for emergencies, and where you keep leashes, treats, and supplies. If your dog has any quirks, fear of thunderstorms, separation anxiety, jumpy at the door, flag them ahead of time so I can set both of us up for a calm, easy visit.

A typical day

Every visit starts with a calm hello and a quick check that your pup is comfortable with me being there. From there I tailor things to your dog: a real walk through downtown Waxhaw with plenty of sniff stops (mental stimulation matters as much as physical exercise), some indoor play if they prefer staying in, fresh water, and any feeding or medication per your instructions. I send photo updates from every visit. Older or anxious dogs get a slower pace and quiet company. High-energy dogs get the full neighborhood loop and a proper workout.

Pet care experience

I’ve cared for fish, birds, cats, and dogs in my own home since I was 10 years old — 24 years of reading animal behavior and knowing what every kind of pet needs at every stage of life. Today I’m a federally-credentialed animal handler (USFWS Import License) maintaining a complex multi-species planted aquarium, and by day I own a licensed home services company in Union County. Married with a young son. Your pet gets a calm, attentive walker who never rushes a visit. I live two minutes from downtown Waxhaw and treat every booking like a neighbor helping a neighbor.

We highly recommend James! He did a fantastic job watching our dog Bruno, cats Juniper and Layla, and our fish. He is incredibly responsible, attentive, and caring. It gave us total peace of mind knowing our whole fur-and-fin family was in such safe hands. We will definitely be booking him again!
