Calm Care for Anxious & Senior Dogs

Calm, Reliable, Individualized Pet Care 🐾 Hi! I'm James "Paul," a 5-star-rated Rover sitter providing dependable, personalized care for dogs of all ages, with particular experience caring for anxious, senior, and special-needs pets. Every dog is different. Some warm up immediately. Others need patience, predictable routines, slower introductions, or extra attention to mobility, medications, and comfort. I take the time to understand what helps your pet feel safe and settled rather than expecting them to adapt to a one-size-fits-all routine. You can expect reliable care, clear communication, photos and updates, and careful attention to the instructions you leave for me. “He took special care for and loved on each despite their quirks and special needs… We could tell they were all happy and content upon our return.” — Repeat client, Downingtown 🐾 Experience With ✔️ Senior dogs and changing mobility needs ✔️ Anxious, shy, or fearful dogs ✔️ Rescue dogs who need time to build trust ✔️ Oral medications, injections, and special diets ✔️ Detailed feeding and care routines ✔️ Dogs who benefit from quieter, low-stress interactions For nervous dogs, I am comfortable moving slowly and allowing the relationship to develop at their pace. I don't force interaction when a dog is telling me they need space. For senior dogs, I pay close attention to mobility, routines, energy level, comfort, medications, and the little changes that matter to owners who know their dogs well. ✅ Why Clients Choose Me Patient, individualized care I adapt my approach to your dog's personality, routine, and comfort level. Experienced with more involved care I'm comfortable following detailed medication, feeding, mobility, and household instructions. Clear communication You'll receive updates and photos so you know how your pet is doing while you're away. Professional and dependable My background in social work strengthened skills that translate directly to pet care, including patience, observation, communication, reliability, and staying calm when situations require good judgment. Local care I primarily serve pets within about 10 miles of the Downingtown/Guthriesville area so I can provide dependable, timely service. “What a great experience! He was responsive and attentive… Loved the pictures and updates, and we could tell they were happy and content upon our return.” — Repeat client, Downingtown 💬 Let's Talk About Your Pet If you're looking for someone patient, dependable, and attentive to the details that make your pet unique, I'd be happy to learn more about them. Send me a message with your dates and a little about your pet, their routine, and anything you'd like me to know. We can then decide whether we're a good fit and arrange a Meet & Greet if appropriate.

Schedule

I structure my weeks around the pets I care for — especially my repeat clients. Because I keep my service area local and my calendar manageable, I can show up consistently and build lasting trust with both pets and their people. I only take on bookings I can give my full attention to.

To provide the best care for your pet, it’s important for me to learn as much as possible about them beforehand. Here’s what I’d love to know: Basic Info: Age, breed, weight, and any relevant medical history (e.g., allergies, medications, past injuries). Personality: Are they shy, outgoing, playful, anxious, or reactive? Do they get along with other animals or children? Daily Routine: Feeding schedule, preferred walk times, sleeping habits, and any specific routines they follow. Exercise Needs: What type of exercise do they enjoy? How much do they require to stay happy and healthy? Behavioral Quirks: Are there specific noises, situations, or objects that make them anxious or uncomfortable? Training: What commands do they know? Do they have specific leash manners or training needs? Emergency Info: Name and contact information for your veterinarian in case of an emergency. My background as an MSW has taught me the value of understanding individual needs and adapting my approach accordingly. Whether your pet is a social butterfly or a shy wallflower, I’m committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and stress-free experience. Open communication is key, so feel free to share any details—big or small—that can help me provide the best care possible.
