Was willing to just come by for a quick visit/meet and greet with our dog before we signed up for more walks which we really appreciate!

James is very reliable and my pup just enjoys his walks with him so much!

Unfortunately we didn’t have a good experience with James. There was a lot that wasn’t communicated to us about his schedule even after we made it clear our dogs needed basic attention (literally a warm body to cuddle our dogs) during the 4th of July weekend with their firework anxiety. He disclosed he would be gone during the day and we agreed that was fine as it’s no longer than a typical work day. He ended up being gone longer stretches than that, and then only came to let them out and feed them 5-10 mins at a time before leaving the house for hours again until we had a lot of messages exchanged about needing to stay at the house in the evenings outside of his other schedule. Our stay was scheduled to start and end at a specific time that he agreed to, but he started hours later and ended the stay hours earlier because of his other job and didn’t communicate this to us until I saw on our cameras and had to ask him directly. Thankfully we had cameras to notice all of this which we’ve never had to use or worry about before. I asked him to message me whenever he left the house and came back after these initial issues to give peace of mind so I didn’t have to watch our cameras, which he never did all weekend so again I had to ask directly each time. We received 2 sets of pictures during a 4 day stay after again letting him know we would appreciate lots of pictures. He barely said a word during the meet and greet and when I asked if he had questions at the end, all he asked was if he could have people/his girlfriend over to our house. Maybe this should have been our red flag but I used to be a Rover sitter myself and we’ve had good experiences in the past where we felt fine with that. If we would have known the details of his schedule/availability, and his communication skills, we would have never booked with him. There’s a handful of other small details that I won’t get into. I’ve never left a negative review before and hate that I’m doing this now, but this stay had me very anxious and skeptical of Rover altogether. I will not be booking with James again.
