I send a routine set of photos during the morning and in the evening. These may feature meal time, play, or nap-time. I will always reach out with major updates and if any questions arise. If you will not have access to service, prefer not to be sent photos, or expect time differences please inform me. Please have a basic schedule of your pets usual or preferred routine available for me via note (picture), text, email, or document. My preference is that it is shared via google docs or word document, but I am flexible. I need these notes to be sent prior to the sit so that I am adequately prepared. Depending on the length of the sit and time prior to the request, the time I would need this by would vary. However, the sooner is the better so that we can smooth out any missed information or details. Consistency is key for your pet while you're away on vacation. Having similarities to their usual routine can help resolve any anxiety at the unfamiliar situation. They're already in a familiar environment, why shouldn't they get familiar comforts and care? You should always come how to a safe, healthy, and happy pet. During Meet n Greets, I always make sure to note down important details shared with me. Meeting prior to a booking is an opportunity to interview each other, to understand if we meet each other's criteria and if I can provide the right kind of services for you and your pet. This communication is an essential part of a good client and sitter relationship and builds a strong foundation for a potential happy, relaxing, and pet-photo filled vacation. Google docs, Word documents, email, or text will suffice. Important information to include would be your pet’s vet, emergency contacts, and any neighbors numbers if needes. I appreciate whatever time you can make to ensure I provide the best care possible to your pet and home. Notice: It is your responsibility to inform me of your pet’s behavior and if they have been pet-sat before. Pet’s can act differently while their family is away, especially if they have separation anxiety. Honesty is a must in order to ensure your pawsome pet has a good homestay. Unsure of where to start on the notes? Here's some guidance: Passcodes (doors, gates, garage, wifi) Garage key if applicable Mail Key Garbage days Times and details on meals, medications, and walks (Not required) Their usual route of walking. (Google maps or a printed out page is good guidance). Estimate of usual bed and wake time (including potty breaks) List vet & emergency information Neighbor’s and/or other emergency contacts
Information Jae W. would like to know about your pet
Be transparent about your pet’s habits. Inform me if your pet has never been sat before as they may act differently. I will need to know if they have any special needs or bad habits: peeing in the house on people, biting, damaging items, scratching, or barking at night. I am a light sleeper, so being able to sleep through the night without disruptions is essential to giving proper care. I prefer to sleep separate of pets in my bed, however, depending on them I may love to cuddle up to them during bedtime. Note: This would apply to dogs on the small to medium size group.
A typical day
I love to play with pets. Puzzles, tug of war, “worm” on a string, laser pointers, fetch, and even mazes or snuffle matts if provided. All pets differ in what they need and their energy levels, but one of the most important needs they have while their pack is away is companionship. I understand the pain of leaving your pet at home alone how lonely they are. I know how they struggle even when they can be pet-sat. It’s why connecting to animals and seeing them progress, slowly eating more and feeling comfortable is so rewarding. Sending pictures to clients fills me with happiness at sensing their relief. You and your pets’ needs will always matter.

Pets are our one true companions
Pet care experience
I grew up with fish, a hampster, and a tiny dog with a brave heart. She was a rescue from the SPCA with an abusive past and first came with a cautious, timid behavior when she arrived at her forever home. As I grew up, I saw her grow comfortable and confident in our home. She felt safe to bark, play, and eat freely around her family. As an SPCA volunteer and pet-sitter, I now get to give back to the community that gave me my first pet. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that I can help along the process of giving dogs their potential forever home. Part of that is making sure their stay at the PSPCA is a good one. I first volunteered with my mother when I was just 13. This past half year, I returned to volunteering at the PSCPA. I gained experience in training basic commands, socializing with dogs of different breeds and temperaments, and reading dog body language. Nothing is like the sense of community at the PSPCA, all volunteers and workers in tandem for the care of pets who just need to be loved. In my experience of over five years of pet-sitting, I’ve seen cats blossom from their initial under-the-bed habits of apprehension, to greeting me every day with a headbutt to my hand. I see previously apprehensive dogs greet me every time with an excited tail and spin, rather than their natural bark at the unknown. Connecting with animals and giving them the care they deserve is invaluable to me. And as my headline says, they will always be our one and only true companions. As someone who’s tiny dog was lost for five days during a cold front due to gardener’s forgetting to close the fence gate, I understand completely the kind of worries an owner can have and the trust involved with having someone care for your pet. My puppy was only a month old when I needed someone to sit him during the times of day I was away and that was very difficult. However, being a pet-sitter and owner gave me the experience to interview possible sitters and express my puppy’s and I’s needs as a client. It’s important to me that I have that same transparency as a pet-sitter that I would as a client. In that, communication is essential. I know the worry that is leaving your pets in the care of a sitter for far trips away, just as I do for short ones. One way that I ensure you get the care you deserve is by having a set routine of pictures every day. Most often, I’ll send a few pictures every morning and evening. Having photo proof of both their care and their cute, happy faces makes a difference. I’m very quick to respond to any texts and will always ask questions if I feel there is anything of concern. I keep aware of the care of your home’s environment and ensure you come back to both a happy pet and a happy home. You should never come back to a mess to clean up after a long trip, or to a sitter who has been irresponsible with house care. Your home is your space and I respect that. I’m attentive to detail and have notified clients of if their watering system for plants is down or has had issues (leakage) in the past. Luckily, this has saved them from far too hot heat and flooding. Let me know how I can help make your time away less stressful, and your pet’s time at home just as joyful.

Reviews

We always use Jae to house sit for us. The animals absolutely love her.

Jae has cared for our cats and dogs several times and we have another session already booked. She is very caring and conscientious and they love her. I recommend her highly.

We rebooked with Jae for sitting with our cats & dogs and everything was great. The dogs absolutely LOVE her.

Since this was my first time using a house/pet sitter, I was a bit apprehensive, but my dogs and cat absolutely loved Jae. She is very good with animals and is quick to contact you if she thinks something is amiss. We were very happy with her service.
