My home is very much a family home, with my partner, two older children and two younger children, so there is usually someone around and plenty going on. Dogs staying with us become part of everyday family life rather than being kept separately or left on their own for long periods. It is an active, relaxed household with lots of company, attention and the usual family routine around them. We also have a garden that the dogs can access throughout most of the year. The garden door is usually open so they can wander in and out as they please, apart from the occasional freezing winter day when even I have to admit Britain has gone too far. 🥶🐾 The aim is for dogs to feel comfortable, settled and included, like they are staying in a genuine home rather than a formal boarding environment.

A typical day in our home is relaxed but active\. Mornings usually begin with a good walk before settling back in at home for breakfast and some downtime\. Throughout the morning, there is plenty of company, playtime and garden time\. Around lunchtime, there is another walk to get some fresh air, stretch their legs and break up the day\. Dogs are included in normal family life, whether that means relaxing at home, pottering around the house or joining us on suitable outings\. Later in the day, there is another walk before everyone starts winding down for the evening\. Dogs can settle comfortably in the home, enjoy some attention and relax as part of the family rather than being separated away\. At weekends, days can be a little more adventurous, with trips to local parks, woodlands or the beach where suitable\. 🐾
