I am a teacher at an elementary school with a flexible schedule that would allow for short periods at home alone (7am-3pm). Although I would prefer to dog-sit over the weekend (Friday-Sunday), I would gladly consider requests during the week. My partner and I do not currently have pets or kids, and live an active lifestyle.

Safety, trust & environment
I have hands-on experience caring for dogs of many ages, temperaments, and needs, both in my home and in owners’ homes. This includes a 12-year-old (very stubborn!) German Shepherd, a 10-year-old bulldog with significant hip arthritis, a 12-year-old Bichon Frisé, and a high-energy 4-year-old Belgian Malinois who kept me on my toes. I’m especially comfortable with senior dogs and understand the patience, gentleness, and routine they require. Knowing that housesitting is also part of the package, I am more than happy to do basic chores around the house. You can rest assured that while away, your plants will be watered, house cleaner than how you left it, and driveway shoveled.
Information Jacques B. would like to know about your pet
I like to learn as much as possible about your pet ahead of time so I can provide care that feels familiar and stress-free. Helpful things to know include your pet’s daily routine, feeding schedule, walking habits, and any medical needs or mobility considerations. For dogs, it’s great to know how they do on leash, around other animals, and with new people. I also appreciate knowing about personality quirks—what makes your pet happiest, what they might be anxious about, and how they prefer to be comforted. Favorite toys, treats, commands, and house rules are always helpful too. For cats, knowing their litter routine, play style, and how social or independent they are makes a big difference.
A typical day
I tailor activities to each pet’s age, energy level, and personality. For active dogs, that means engaging walks, light play sessions, and enrichment games that keep both their bodies and minds happy. For senior pets, I focus on gentle strolls, calm companionship, and lots of patience, ensuring they’re comfortable and moving at their own pace. At home, I enjoy interactive play, basic reinforcement of routines and manners, puzzle toys, and plenty of cuddle time (if they’re into that!). I also love spending quiet time with pets—whether that’s brushing, relaxing together, or simply keeping them company—so they feel safe, relaxed, and cared for while you’re away.

Lifelong Animal Lover
Pet care experience
My love for animals began with my childhood dog, Pichou—a Samoyed–Husky mix—and has only grown stronger over the years. Caring for dogs and cats has always been second nature to me, and something I genuinely look forward to. Friends and family know I’m the person who will happily go out of my way to make sure their pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved. For the past year, I’ve also been a regular dog walker with ElderDog Canada, walking four dogs weekly. These include a 15-year-old Shih Tzu mix, a 14-year-old Pomeranian mix, and several adult terrier and doodle mixes. This experience has strengthened my ability to adapt walks and care routines to each dog’s mobility, energy level, and personality.
Reviews

Stellar care for my pup Sophie. Super communication skills, and a very pleasant disposition. Kept me updated on all the fun Sophie had all day while she spent it with Jacques. Would highly recommend care from Jacques for your pup.

Jacques stay at our house to look after our two golden retrievers, Daisy and Rufus, and our bearded dragon, Spike. He did a wonderful job maintaining the dogs’ comfortable daily routine, and we really appreciated the daily updates that showed how well everyone was doing. When we got home, the dogs were happy, calm, and perfectly themselves— a good sign of the quality care they received. It was so reassuring to know they were in capable hands while we were away. We would absolutely recommend Jacques to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful pet sitter, and would be very happy to have him back again.
Jacques was the best dog sitter ever!! I always hesitate to leave our dog behind, but with Jacques it was easy! He took her for multiple walks a day, cared and loved her like she was his own. Our dog had so much fun!! 10/10 would recommend!
Jacques is extremely caring, knowledgable and attentive. We would leave our dog with him time and time again. You would be hard pressed to find someone more trustworthy. We highly recommend him to anyone looking to leave their pet with someone they can count on.
