Hello! My name is Jacque, I’m 25 years old, and I’m a nursing student at Oakland University. I’m also a licensed emergency medical technician (EMT). I grew up with a wide variety of animals in my life, including dogs, cats, birds, lizards, turtles, and horses. Having these experiences has made me very well-rounded in all aspects of owning a pet. We play such significant roles in our animals lives, so I try to make them feel just as significant in ours. There’s no better feeling than coming home to a dog that’s so excited to see you that they can’t contain their happiness so they start happy whining or they hold your arm in their mouth instead of their baby (their baby is what I refer to as their favorite toy). I’ve also found that there’s no better cure to anxiety than having a snuggly, purring cat lay on your chest. Pets are considered family members to me, so that’s how I treat them when I care for them. I’ve been pet sitting consistently since I was 15 or 16. I’ve worked with animals of all age ranges, dietary restrictions, and medical needs. I believe it’s important for both parties to feel comfortable with every interaction, so I like to meet with families and their pet(s) prior to caring for them. I also try to provide as much reassurance to the owner that their loved one is in good hands by sending many pictures and videos to update them on the status of their pet.
