When I've had pets or boarded them previously with Rover, I always make sure to find out the basics of their personality from you, their favorite human. They deserve the same consideration we give people! Currently only offering walks, not boarding.

Information Jacqueline D. would like to know about your pet

Please let me in on all your dog's secrets. Is it a shy guy or gal? A shining extrovert? Do they play well with others or should we avoid any other dogs during our walk? Good to know: I'm not a trainer and I'm not well-suited to walk aggressive dogs.

A typical day

I'm no longer boarding your adorable pets, but I'll take them on a scenic walk for exercise and fun. I work locally in the Westwood and Beverly Hills area. We can stay in the neighborhood or trot around Holmby Park (or other green area), whichever is most convenient to where you live.

Pet care experience

I grew up taking care of pets! My childhood dog Olivier was an unusual mix; he was an eye-catching, mutant-sized Dachshund who got a lot of attention walking down the street, and we had a couple of independent-minded kitties. My family still has multiple dogs and cats. I absolutely adore dogs and feel strongly about tuning in to who they are - if they want to play, it's on! If it's a shy guy or gal, I respect their space if and until they feel more comfortable. I facilitate healing workshops and I'm an artist with a variable schedule that I keep up-to-date on my Rover calendar.

Jacqueline came and she walked my dogs. However, I felt as if she was quite rude and abrasive. First was when she was bringing the dogs back from the walk and she texted in all capitals letters to “OPEN THE DOOR!” She could have calmly and nicely texted. Whatever, I didn’t really care about that. But what irritated me the most was the message that she sent after she finished the walk. One of the dogs, Maverick, is a rescued dog that has had a lot of trauma in the past. It is written in his profile. Maverick can be untrusting of new people and new situations. Supposedly, Maverick was very hesitant to go walk with Jacqueline and kept trying to turn back around to go home. I appreciate that Jacqueline continued the walk, but if she felt that Maverick was uncomfortable or that she couldn’t handle him or walk him properly, then she should’ve just brought him home. Instead, Jacqueline was very rude and abrasive in her message telling us to never reach out to her again because she wasn’t able to manage Maverick wanting to turn around to come back home. It is completely fine to nicely say that someone does not feel comfortable walking a dog again in the future, but the way you say it matters. No need to be rude about it. Kindness, compassion and understanding goes a long way.
