Pet care experience

Loving dog-sitter, retired

I’ve had my own or looked after other peoples‘ most of my life, since I only work 18 hours a week as a translator from home I have plenty of time to devote to my furry friends. Having had till recently an elderly dog with multiple health issues I have no problems looking after others with similar issues. And I do like to snuggle down in the evening with a book or watching telly with a contented dog at my side. I usually take just one dog but will have two if they get on really well or are from the same household.

Willow always loves going to Jackie's. This was her first long overnight stay and she had a great time. Jackie is always happy to see Willow and cares a great deal for her and all dogs in her care😊

Jacqueline is absolutely great, when leaving Charlie I am always reassured he will have a lovely time and it is clear he is made to feel part of the family and always gets plenty of attention and exercise. I always receive great photos and updates and can see he’s having a fabulous time.

Following a meet & greet, this was Charlie’s first stay with Jacqueline and you can tell she loves dogs and was very calm, even if they can be a little excitable like Charlie. The photos and updates were very welcome and reassuring even though I knew Charlie would be in good hands. Jacqueline was very keen to know about Charlie’s routine and when I left him, I could see Charlie would have a great time an by all accounts he most certainly did.

Doggy Day Care • Nov 11, 2025

I needed a dog sitter at fairly short notice for a work trip. Jacqueline was available and agreed to do a meet and greet with Braithey the day before the time booking. She at once formed a bond with him, welcomed him, fussed over him, learned his ways and declared they would get along great together. This put my mind at rest and I could focus on my work day trip to the nearby area. She looked after him from 8am until 4.30pm, not the 2 minutes that is currently showing in this booking. She took him on good walks, allowed him free reign around her enclosed garden, let him snuggle with her abd she sent delightful photos to keep me updated during the day. When I came to collect Braithey he was in very good spirits, he was showing off his new "friend" to me so I know that Jacqueline is a dog's best friend. Would absolutely recommend her to anyone. She made me a cup of tea, we had a chat and saw me on my way back out first a 3 hour drive home. A total star!

George is always so happy to spend time with Jacqueline, he has a great time socialising and being spoiled! We never hesitate to book his home away from home.

Schedule

Pet care fits nicely into my everyday routine, including weekends. I work as a freelance translator but never more than 3 hours a day so have plenty of time to devote to my canine charges.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a good sized fenced garden, a car suitable for transporting small and medium dogs and there is a popular country park nearby as well as quiet village and riverside walks.

A typical day

Long walks in the park (if they’re up to it) and playing in the garden. I enjoy chilling on the sofa with my dogs and a good book . Plenty of cuddles and massages, especially for elderly dogs who might not be so active.

Any quirks regarding the dog’s social behaviour, likes and dislikes, things that are likely to trigger a tricky “situation”. A potted medical history is also good to know.
