Pet care experience

Auntie Jaclyn loves all the pups!

I have worked in a few boarding kennels, a veterinary boarding kennel, and training facility. During my time in boarding kennels I have cared for dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds and temperaments. I am able to give medications (including but not limited to pills, chewables, topical medications, injections). I also worked with dogs in large groups quite often and am able to keep things fun and stress free for the dogs involved while keeping everyone safe. While working at the training facility I learned a lot about dog behavior, body language, and training. I handled and worked with dogs with aggression, resource guarding problems, reactivity, and just about any other “problem” you can think of. I am very comfortable with every dog I meet, even if it takes awhile for them to warm up to me. I have been working with dogs for several years now and dogs are my passion! I have a certification in basic obedience training for dogs which includes all your “typical” cues (sit, down, stay, heel, etc) along with crate training, potty training, socialization, and stopping unwanted behaviors (ex: jumping). I am also a CGC and ATT evaluator through the AKC. If your dog is with me, they are like my own dogs and loved on and cared for day and night no matter what kind of needs they have. I also offer virtual dog training through Rover, feel free to visit my trainer profile and book a free consultation!

Jaclyn was wonderful. Of course I was nervous as this was a first stay with her; but the pics and updates put my mind as ease. Have another stay already booked with her!

I loved how I got frequent updates and she took very good care of my boy. He definitely had a blast!! She answered very quickly when I had questions or when I was ready to drop off/ pick up which made the experience very smooth!

We are so glad we came across Jaclyn and that she was available. We left Colt in great hands. We got pictures everyday and updates and he is worn out from snuggles and fun which is all we can ask for! Will absolutely book again ans highly recommend.

Jaclyn was wonderful. We had to book last minute due to a family emergency and Jaclyn was very understanding and accommodating. Our dogs had a great stay at her house she sent messages, photos, and checked in daily to let us know our babies were living their best lives. Will book again.

Schedule

I am currently NOT ACCEPTING new boarding or daycare clients! Drop off and pick up times should be scheduled no earlier than 6:30am and no later than 9pm. If you need times outside of this range a $10 fee will be added to your booking total. The drop off process: Please text me when you are on the way or at least when you are close so I can be ready to greet you and your pup. In most cases dogs will come right inside with me with no issue. In the event your dog is particularly set in not wanting to come inside I will sit on my porch with them for a little bit until they calm down. Some dogs do better going in through our back door than the front. It also gives them a chance to potty and run off some of their nerves in the fenced in yard if needed. Whatever I need to do to get them inside safely, I will. In most cases it is easiest when the owner and myself, with the dog, part ways at the porch so the dog does not panic if their owner tries to leave the house without them. Once inside I will give your dog time to decompress and get adjusted to their new environment before they meet any other dogs. No dogs will enter the home in be immediately bombarded by another dog. We are very insistent on dogs being allowed to decompress when first arriving. If I have to sit on the floor with them for a few hours for them to calm down and get used to me, I will. Whatever it takes to help them settle in! The pick up process: As with the drop off process, please let me know your ETA so I can have your pup and all their belongings ready to go. My husband or I will greet you outside with your pup and help you load their belongings into your vehicle if you would like some assistance. PLEASE NOTE: If you cancel within 3 days of your booking starting there is a cancelation fee. If you end up pick your dog up early because your trip was cut short or dates were mixed up or something like that there is also a cancelation fee.

Safety, trust & environment

In our home we have a “dog room” that houses any dogs who are used to sleeping in crates (we have some crates on hand but you are welcome to provide your own if you would like your dog to have their crate that they are used to). We also keep all dogs belongings, leashes, and food in this room. All dogs food and belongings that are not being used immediately are placed in plastic totes with lids and labeled so that no one losings anything and things don't get mixed up. I have hooks on the wall with chalk labels above them for each dogs leash as well. Our two dogs are crated trained and sleep in their crates at night as that is where they are most comfortable, so if you would prefer your dog sleep in the bedroom with us that is completely fine. We have baby gates at every doorway on the main floor of our house so if you prefer your dog not sleep in a crate and also don't want them sleeping in the bedroom if they aren't allowed to at home we have a comfy couch and dog beds in the living room for them to sleep on if they wish to. We also have a guest room with a bed so that if your dog is more nervous around other dogs than anticipated or you would prefer them not sleep around other dogs, they can have their own room and either my husband or I will sleep with them and stay with them at all times. If we need to make rotations on who gets to be downstairs or outside we can accommodate that easily. So don't fret if your dog gets annoyed easily with more energetic pups or doesn't like to share sleeping space, we can make them happy and comfortable here! The only rooms that are off limits to the dogs are my sons room and the bathrooms. This is the dogs house, we just live in it! ;) Our yard is completely fenced in but if your dog has a history of jumping over or digging under fences or you are just nervous about them trying to we have 100 ft long lines we can put them on just to make sure they can't pull any escape acts. When it's hot out we have kiddie pools that we fill up so the dogs can play in the water. They also always have access to fresh, clean water to drink whether inside or outside. I also have agility equipment (dog jumps, tunnel, weave poles), herding toys and rally course materials to do outside with the dogs. Dogs are never left outside unsupervised. When you are packing for your pup you are welcome to bring anything you want for them if you feel it will make them more comfortable while they are here. We do have dog bowls, food puzzles, slow feeders, blankets, dog beds, some crates, extra collars and leashes (if you forget yours or for some reason a replacement is needed), food puzzles and lots of toys so if you'd like to leave that stuff at home you are welcome to but if you're more comfortable bringing your own items that is totally fine as well. I just ask that you please bring their own food and treats.

Pets

A typical day

Our usual daily schedule starts around 5:30-6am. Everyone goes potty as soon as I wake up. I have regular daycare dogs who come very early in the morning so I make sure everyone has had a potty break before they arrive. Around 7-7:30am I feed everyone breakfast, my dogs are used to eating in their crates, so if your dog is as well please let me know. Otherwise I make sure everyone is separated to eat so there is no worries about resource guarding or fighting over food. If your dog is a grazer we will offer them their food often through out the day away from the other dogs so that they get a chance to eat as much as they want a time without the other dogs trying to eat their food. After breakfast there is a mandatory rest period, at least an hour, to avoid bloat. If your dog will rest calmly in a crate then that is great, otherwise they can go with either my husband or I for their rest time so they aren't inclined to try and play with another dog. Through out the day after the rest period we have play time inside or outside, multiple potty breaks, and certain dogs get training sessions when here (feel free to ask about this!). Between 6-7pm we do dinner from the dogs and another hour of rest after that. Then there is another potty break. After that everyone can relax around the house until bed time which for the dogs is 10pm, for myself I usually am in bed by midnight at the latest.

Are they allowed to have table scraps? 4. Are there any toys they love? Any they cannot have? 5. Would you like them to do any enrichment activities? (Agility, Food puzzles, herding egg, rally course, filled kong) 6. Where do they usually sleep at night? 7. Do they have any quirks or behaviors I should know about? 8. Are they able to be left unsupervised at all (inside)? 9. Do they have a history of jumping or digging under fences? 10. Do they like to play with other dogs or are they more into cuddles/finding a spot to “hang out” around other dogs? 11. Are they crate trained? 12. Any allergies? 13. Any joint issues or problems going up and down stairs? 14. Feeding instructions: 15. Any medications? 16. Can they regulate themselves when drinking water? 17. Commands known: I am more than happy to do meet and greets. All meet and greets are done outside so I try to plan them around the weather (avoiding storms, rain, snow, or super high winds).
