Safety, trust & environment

In meeting a new pet, my first step is always trying to create a sense of security and fun. I try to personalize the experience for each pet based on their comfort level with me. A happy-go-lucky cat or dog will get lots of belly rubs, a play session, and maybe work on a cue or two. A nervous pet will have their boundaries respected and be enticed to greet me with a gentle voice as I drop a treat off and step away so they can retrieve it. Habits like barking or jumping for attention will be ignored, but as soon as their paws hit the floor or they stop barking to take a breath, they'll receive lots of praise and a healthy treat. Pet parents will receive detailed notes on how their pet responded to my visit, so they can track their pet's progress over time.

Information Jackie N. would like to know about your pet

The most important things for me to learn about your dog are what your training goals are. If your dog is reactive to other animals or people, knowing that will help me plan my approach for your visit or develop a longer term training plan for you and your dog. Please let me know about any food allergies, weight concerns, or dietary restrictions, so that I can plan to bring appropriate treats for your pets (cats included!)

A typical day

For all of my bookings, I like to bring fun treats - it's the fastest way to your pet's heart! I'll always ask about any allergies or dietary restrictions first, so that the treats are healthy for your pet. If your pet is comfortable with me, we can explore new routes on our walks or play a rousing game of fetch on a visit. If you'd like your dog to have a fun outing, we can visit a nearby park or trail as well!

Experienced Pet Training Instructor

Pet care experience

Hello and thanks for checking out my page! I'm an experienced dog trainer who used to teach basic obedience and housetraining in a retail setting prior to striking out on my own. I am committed to positive reinforcement techniques and fear-free interactions, and I value patience and creativity in shaping a pet's behavior. Because I'm always reading your pet's body language, I can give them as much space as possible when they are nervous or stressed or anticipate and try to redirect problem behaviors like jumping up out of excitement. If you're looking for regular weekly bookings, I can also teach your dog cues like sit, down, and stay, or how to walk on the leash without pulling or crossing sides. In addition to my experience with dogs, I'm also a cat mom and have had cats for most of my adult life. I can't promise to train them, but I promise they can train me! I will give them as much space or distance as they require, and I usually have cat treats and toys with me as well.

Amazing!!! Jackie took amazing care of my deaf boxer and gave him some much needed training! I also left my little anxious puppy home for the first time and she made sure she was safe and happy the whole time! We had a lot of things going on at our house while she was there, construction workers coming in and out, our heat was broken, etc. I was very nervous but Jackie handled it with ease and was great about communicating everything! Will 100% be booking with her whenever I am out of town. Thank you so much!!
