Pet care experience

A lifetime with dogs, cats & more

Animals have been part of my life for as long as I can remember — hamsters as a kid, then real responsibility at age 10 raising a Rottweiler. My family is now on our fifth Doberman, so I've spent years around large, loyal guardian breeds that need a confident, steady hand, and I'm just as comfortable with a gentle Shih Tzu. On the cat side, two bonded orange tabbies turned me into a lifelong cat person, and these days it's just me and my two-year-old tortoiseshell, who has plenty of personality and gets exactly the patience she needs. I also bring real senior-care experience, not just with pets — I was one of my grandfather's primary caregivers through a long health decline, working alongside my grandmother to make sure he never had to leave home until the very end. That experience taught me patience, a calm presence under pressure, and how to notice what someone needs even when they can't easily tell you — and I still talk to my grandmother every day and visit as often as I can. Those are exactly the instincts that matter most with an older or higher-needs pet: reading subtle cues, sticking to routine, and never losing patience.

Safety, trust & environment

Boarding, at my home: Pets who board with me are joining an already calm, established household — I have a Doberman, a Cavachon, and a cat of my own, all easygoing and used to sharing space. New pets are introduced slowly and on-leash, never left alone together right away, and I keep watching how they settle in before giving them more freedom around the house. Feeding, walks, and any medications follow the exact schedule the owner gives me — I don't improvise on that. House sitting, in your home: I keep everything as close to your pet's normal routine as possible — same feeding times, same walk schedule, same house rules — because consistency is what keeps a pet calm when their person is gone and a stranger is in charge. Before you leave, I confirm emergency contacts, vet info, and anything specific to your home (door locks, alarm codes, where supplies are kept), and I leave the house exactly as secure as I found it. Drop-in visits: Safety starts before I even walk in the door — I confirm entry details and any pet-specific quirks (skittish around new people, an escape risk at the door, etc.) with you ahead of time. Once inside, I follow your instructions exactly for food, water, medication, and litter or yard needs, and I don't let a pet outside unsupervised unless you've told me that's their normal routine. Dog walking: Every walk is on-leash unless you've told me otherwise and the area is secure — I don't take chances with a dog I'm responsible for. I walk my own two dogs twice a day, every day, so this isn't a routine I'm learning on the job — it's one I already live by. One flag: I wrote the boarding section assuming introductions happen on-leash and that off-leash time depends on your setup — I don't actually know if you have a fenced yard, so I kept that vague on purpose rather than guess. Tell me and I'll make that line more specific.

During the time Jack worked for me at Peak Performance (Running shoe and apparel store) I entrusted him with the daily care of my Beagle. This was not a casual arrangement; he was responsible for a strict regimen during their six-day work week, including precise feeding, hydration monitoring, and three separate 20-minute walks per seven-hour shift. Beagles are high-energy animals that require consistent engagement, and the applicant never faltered in providing that. They were punctual, observant of any changes in my dog's mood or energy, and proved to be exceptionally reliable. I would highly recommend them to anyone seeking a responsible and dedicated pet sitter.

I have lived with the applicant since 2021, and together we have raised our two cats from the time they were kittens. I can personally attest to the high level of discipline and attention to detail they bring to pet ownership. Raising cats from such a young age requires constant monitoring of their health, nutrition, and behavioral development. The applicant is highly attuned to their needs, never misses a feeding or litter box cleaning, and provides a stable, loving environment. They understand that pets are family members, not just responsibilities, and I have complete confidence in their ability to care for any animal as if it were their own.

Schedule

I currently share my home with a Doberman, a Cavachon, and a deeply bonded tortoiseshell cat — so between two daily walks that usually add up to 25,000 steps, I know firsthand what high-energy dogs need. I also bring real senior-care experience: I was one of my grandfather's primary caregivers through a long health decline, which taught me the patience and attention to detail that older or higher-needs pets need most.
