Experienced and accommodating dog-sitter
I've looked after dogs of all ages and sizes, and I am quick to pick-up a dogs personality to learn how best to keep them feeling happy and safe. I have been actively dog-sitting in London for neighbours and friends over the past 6 years . I prefer to only look after one dog at any given time so they can receive the best care and attention they need, and to mitigate any canine personality mismatches! From a young age I was often responsible for taking care of our older family Labrador and young Golden Retriever pup - so I’ve done my fair share of walkies and getting soaked trying to stop a stubborn dog escaping a bath... Schedule
I work part-time as an audio technician either at home or at a location nearby. My hours are in general not fixed and I have ample availability. To provide the best care possible for your dog I prefer to have your dog with me at all times, however I also know how important it is that your dog feels comfortable being left alone too sometimes for the sake of what is likely your usual work/life routine. I aim to accommodate your dogs normal daily patterns as closely as I can so that they don't develop any anxiety about knowing when they will next be taken outside to do their business or given their dinner. If there is ever an occasion where I have to leave your dog alone in my home, for example if I am attending a class or going to the supermarket - I will always regularly monitor your dogs wellbeing via a home security camera in my hallway to ensure they aren't in any distress.

I can do as many walks a day as you need for the size and age of your dog. Every dog has a unique personality, and I handle each one differently once I get to know them - which usually doesn't take me long. I'm very aware that a dog needs plenty of stimulation and interaction, and I will make sure to strike a balance between a healthy amount of outdoor exercise, play, and calm time. In case of any emergencies there is a highly-rated veterinary practice half a mile away from my flat. In my home I’m happy to allow a dog be up on the sofa or on my bed if they like to be closer to someone (provided it’s a habit their owner likes them to have of course). If you prefer a stricter level of discipline for your dog I will absolutely accommodate that too. I'm certainly not a pushover and I make sure that your dog understands that I'm the top-dog (excuse the pun) as they get to know me, in order to discourage any undesirable behaviour - for example, I never let a dog go through a door before me and I take care to help them understand that pulling on a lead won't get them anywhere faster). I live alone in a 2-bedroom first floor flat situated near to Paddington Recreation Ground - a large open park which itself contains two enclosed free-run dog parks (I always double check for any holes in the fences or dodgy looking rubbish on the floor there before letting a dog off the lead in those though).
A typical day
Your dog and I will go for long walks around my local neighbourhood and explore some of Paddington Recreation Ground to check out all your dogs favourite smells - and hopefully find them some new pals! I can also give your dog some closely supervised time off the lead in one of the local dog parks provided you are comfortable with this. There are lots local dog groups who meet in the middle of the park too, so if your dog isn't too shy I may allow them a bit of canine social time. I will also do a bit of discipline training if your dog is on the younger side. I don't tend to train a dog to do tricks, however if there are any you are working on with them please let me know and I will ensure to keep practicing any with them whilst they are in in my care.

If your dog has any behavioural issues you are working on with them, or that are intrinsic to their breed or upbringing, I would be grateful if you could let me know prior to your booking request. I always insist on meeting your dog (ideally in a relaxed familiar environment) first before accepting a first-time booking request, as I consider it essential that your dog observes their owner and their carer together prior to passing them into my care.
