I have nearly a year of professional experience working as a dog walker in North Vancouver, where I cared for dogs in a wide variety of environments, personalities, ages, and ability levels. My typical workday included two group hikes on North Vancouver mountain trails, usually about 5 km and 1.5 hours each, as well as private neighborhood or trail walks in between. I was responsible for picking dogs up from their homes, safely transporting them to and from the trails, managing groups of up to five dogs at a time, and making sure every dog was safe, comfortable, and enjoying the experience. I have worked with young, energetic dogs, senior dogs, shy and sensitive dogs, highly active dogs, dogs with challenging behaviours, and dogs requiring additional care, including blind and deaf dogs. I also have extensive experience walking dogs both on-leash and off-leash. Working with so many different personalities has taught me how important it is to read a dog's body language, respect their boundaries, stay aware of the environment, and adjust my approach to each individual dog. Safety has always been my priority. During my professional dog-walking experience, I became very comfortable managing multiple dogs outdoors, handling unexpected situations, and building trust with dogs so they feel secure with me. I take that responsibility very seriously. Communication with pet parents is also very important to me. After each walk or hike, I provided a detailed update about how the dog did, what we did during the outing, and anything noteworthy I observed, along with photos from our adventure. I know how reassuring it is to receive a thoughtful update and know that your dog is happy and well cared for. I also share my life with my own 9-year-old American Cocker Spaniel, who is truly a member of my family. Having him has given me an even deeper appreciation for how unique, sensitive, and important our dogs are to us. I understand what it feels like to trust someone else with a dog you love deeply, and I never take that trust for granted. Whether your dog is young and full of energy, older and needs a gentler pace, shy and needs time to feel comfortable, or simply loves a good adventure, I will always treat them with patience, respect, attention, and genuine care — just as I would want someone to treat my own dog.
