Hey there, welcome to my Rover profile! My name is Irene and I’m a vet tech and surgery tech at a local animal hospital here in central Austin, so I bring hands-on medical experience and a calm, confident approach to every pet I care for. I’m very comfortable administering medications, reading behavior, and making sure pets feel safe, loved, and well cared for. I did take a break from Rover while I focused on growing my career in veterinary medicine, which is why my reviews are from a few years ago. Now that I’m settled into my role, I’m really excited to be back and care for pets in my community outside of the clinic too! I offer drop-in visits during my lunch breaks, after work around 6:30pm, and I’m open to weekday and weekend sitting when needed. I also have experience with senior dogs. My own pup lived to be 15 and needed medications and diaper changes, so I truly understand the extra patience and gentle care they need. I’d love to meet your pets and make sure they feel happy, safe, and totally loved while you’re away! 🐾

I can always count on Irene to care for my basset hound while I am out of town! She is attentive, patient and truly loves to be around dogs, which shows in the quality of care she provides.

I can't think of a more loving and nurturing animal caregiver then Irene, she just absolutely adores animals. she is our trusted family pet sitter; any time we leave she is always the one me call to pet sit she is responsible and dependable as well.
I’d recommend Irene to any one looking for a dog-sitter. We’ve lived together 2+ years and have watched friends’ dogs for them occasionally. She actually loves each and every one of them and gets so excited to be able to spend time with the dogs we get to watch. When your dogs are with her you can rest assured they are loved, fed and watered and kept safe.
Wow what can I say! Irene watched our little fur baby while we were out of town for a week. Irene made us feel so safe and secure about leaving our baby with her! She constantly updated us with messages and photos every chance she got. Irene was attentive and paid attention to every detail we left about our furbaby. I wish we had another trip soon so our fur baby could hang out with her again! We highly recommend Irene for all services available on rover.

Schedule
Pet care fits seamlessly into my weekly routine. I work four days during the week at an animal hospital, and I typically take lunch between 12–2pm, which allows me to provide midday walks, check-ins, or medication visits. I’m also available after work around 6:30pm, as well as on weekends when overnight stays are needed at my home. This allows for consistent care and reliable routines for your pet throughout the week.

Safety, trust & environment
Safety, structure, and comfort are my top priorities. With my veterinary background, I’m experienced in reading behavior cues, managing stress in animals, and ensuring pets are handled safely and appropriately in all situations. In your home, I maintain your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible to reduce stress and keep them comfortable in their familiar environment. At my home, I have a secure backyard that is double fenced and reinforced with chicken wire for added safety. I also have a large kennel available if a pet ever needs their own space or structured downtime. Because I have two energetic and social dogs, I only accept dogs that are friendly with others and comfortable in a multi-dog environment and are not prone to potty accidents.

A typical day
For drop-in visits, I provide structured care that includes walks, potty breaks, enrichment, and companionship. I tailor each visit based on the pet’s energy level, whether that’s a longer walk or relaxed one-on-one time. For overnight stays at my home, dogs enjoy a balanced routine of walks, yard time, rest, and supervised play with my two dogs if they’re a good fit socially. On weekends, I like to keep things active and enriching. If they’re staying overnight, we’ll often explore longer walks at places like Violet Crown Trail or Lady Bird Lake, depending on their energy level and comfort. My goal is always a calm, structured, and enjoyable experience that helps pets feel secure, exercised, and cared for.
