I only work for 1 hour / week at another job so have plenty time to be available to your pets whether it is walks, hikes or cuddles. When pet-sitting I spend much of my time in the home, reading, cooking, gardening and yoga practice.

I have a clean quiet home and a large fenced yard. Your dog can enjoy playtime with toys and balls in the yard or in the house. Boarding and daycare include a couple of walks and a couple of playtimes - this tend to take care of any separation anxiety they may have. Meals and any medication are offered on their typical schedule. Drop off their own beds/ blankets and clothing with your scent and they will feel more secure.

I don’t have a breed preference. My biggest softy was my 165 lb Great Dane, I love a dog that is having fun and I tone things down for those that are fearful. I board dogs from one client at a time so that your needs are catered for.
A typical day
I typically walk dogs in the Tumalo area including the reservoir, Tumalo Feed Canal, Cline Butte Recreational Area, Twin Bridges, Huntington Trail, Nat Forest and BLM land. I can also take water-loving pups to local lakes.

Pet care experience
I offer a home-from-home experience for your dog(s) or cats in a clean, quiet and safe home within a peaceful private 200-acre neighborhood. I have a large fenced yard, room to romp indoors, toys and cuddles on the furniture. I give your pet lots of exercise and attention to minimize the stress of being away from you. Boarding includes a hike in the Tumalo area and/or a walk around my property.. My personal experience includes Border Collies, Husky mix, Belgian Shepherds and Great Dane and my professional experience includes seniors and miniatures. A cat owned me for 15 years, I would be happy to look after your feline. While I love big dogs, but can NOT take dogs that are excessively boisterous or lacking basic training ( young puppies being an exception). My apologies. I take caring for your pet very seriously. I am happy to administer medication and have training in pet first aid and CPR. I volunteer for PET (Pet Evacuation Team) and act as a local foster for rescued dogs. I am a retired academic who likes to stay active and I pride myself in having common sense. My own senior Border Collie passed in 2022, your dog will have my full attention. Play dates are often arranged with my neighbors and their dogs. I guarantee your dog will be a stay with the energy level it prefers. Daycare includes a hike or leash walk and a romp in my large fenced yard and cuddles and playtime indoors. I love to walk and offer off-leash hikes or leash walks. While your dog does not have to have a perfect ‘heel’ command it must already be trained for leash walks. For all my clients, I believe you know your dog better than anyone and I will sincerely follow any instructions you provide. But if I have concerns about your dogs welfare I will speak up. A meet and greet is required and offered at no charge. You MUST tell me if your dog has health issues and provide a vaccination printout from your vet. A discount applies to second pet.

It is extremely hard to find a pet sitter that can handle my crew of furbabies is an understatement—and then I met Irene. I have three very special (and very challenging) dogs. My biggest girl is an Italian Mastiff—an absolute sweetheart, but incredibly strong on leash and sometimes a bit pushy with her sister. My middle girl is a 60 lb mix who adores people but is highly reactive to other dogs and motorcycles, especially on leash. And my littlest 40 lb mix is currently battling a very aggressive cancer, with complex medical needs that include daily bloody noses, reactivity to bikes and scooters, and no recall. Finding someone with the right environment—a fenced yard, no other pets, and the skill and patience to handle all of this—felt nearly impossible. Irene checked all the boxes on paper, but I was still so nervous about whether anyone could truly manage their needs. I was blown away from day one. I told Irene that if walks were too difficult, the dogs could just play in the yard. So imagine my surprise when I received my first update: all three dogs had been walked separately and did great. Not only that, she continued walking them daily in a neighborhood setting—something I don’t even feel comfortable attempting myself. She carefully planned each walk around timing and routes to avoid triggers, and somehow managed situations like other dogs passing by with my reactive girl. What meant the most to me was her mindset. Instead of judging or focusing on the challenges, she encouraged me. She highlighted the positives, recognized my dog’s anxiety for what it is, and shared how she helped calm her. She truly understood that my dog isn’t “difficult”—she’s just nervous because of her past. Irene even taught me new techniques for walking her that have made a noticeable difference. Beyond the walks, Irene handled their care flawlessly. My dogs have complex meals—five different components plus supplements and medications—and she managed everything perfectly. When my cancer-fighting pup stopped eating, she worked with me to find something he would eat. When he later developed loose stool, she proactively asked if she could give him pumpkin she had on hand. She even kept an eye on his tumor, which gave me so much peace of mind. Her home is absolutely perfect for dogs—comfortable, calm, and equipped with a secure, tall fenced yard. From the moment I walked in, I knew my pups would feel safe there. I was especially worried about my sick pup having bloody noses and potentially staining things, but Irene reassured me not to worry at all—and I could tell she truly meant it. The daily updates were incredible—detailed, thoughtful, and full of the cutest photos. When I picked my dogs up, they were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. All of my belongings were clean, organized, and ready to go. I’ll be honest—I’m what most people would call a “crazy dog mom,” and in six years, Irene is only the second person I’ve ever trusted to care for my dogs. That alone should say everything. If you’re looking for someone who will treat your dogs like her own—with patience, skill, compassion, and genuine love—book Irene. She is truly amazing

Irene spoiled Lucy with long walks, play dates, snuggles in bed, and treats. Her messages and pictures showed how happy Lucy was gave us great peace of mind. We were so grateful to find such a great caregiver on short notice over the holidays.
Irene was terrific with our two pups! She took good care of them, took them out for adventures, sent us pictures so we could see the fun they were having, and was great about giving us updates. It gave us great peace of mind, knowing they were in such good hands while we were on vacation. Thank you Irene!

Irene is absolutely amazing! I find her to be kind, honest, respectful and most all loves dogs!! This was my first time using Rover as my dog typically travels with me. During the many “ meet and greets” phase of the process I was having a challenging time finding someone who is professional, responsive and willing to care for one dog at a time without having a full household of other pets / and or children-Within minutes of meeting Irene both me and my dog Riley felt comfortable and happy with our decision to book his stay with Irene . I received daily photos with snippets of their adventures and could see from the pictures he was having a great time. I highly recommend booking with Irene! I plan on booking with her in the future- Thank you for taking such great care of Riley!!!;)
