When pet sitting, I make sure the dog has everything he/she needs before leaving, whether it’s fresh food or water. I also designate play time throughout the day to keep the dog stimulated. When dog walking, I’m very careful about leash/harness application. I’m also aware of my surroundings to adjust to the dog’s personality (I.e. if the dog isn’t friendly to other dogs/people).

It’s important for me to know the dog’s personality, triggers/fears, habits, and food/snack preferences. I also need to know if the dog does not get along with strangers or other dogs in case we run into them while walking.
A typical day
Different dogs have different playing styles. I like to match them and give 15-20 min of play time followed by walking. I love going through the parks in Nutley, Branchbrook Park, or Mills Reservation.

Pet care experience
I’m the designated pet sitter/dog walker for all my friends and a few neighbors. My experience includes taking care of dogs of all ages (including puppies and seniors) and various sizes. In addition to temporary assignments, I have also regularly taken care of a friend’s dog for over 2 years after she moved away. My responsibilities include daily care such as walking, feeding, and playing with the dogs.
