Pet care experience
I will love them with all my heart.
I’ve had dogs in my life for over 15 years. I raised my Bichon Maltese from four months old and once rescued an abandoned American Staff from the forest on a rainy day during Covid. Because of the plane’s breed restrictions, I had to leave him with my ex but still a loved one boyfriend. He is still thriving, but I deeply miss him every day—it’s a pain that I can’t hug him anymore. I don’t want to replace him, but one of my client’s dogs, Bean, became like my own. We raised her together during her first year, so I do build strong bonds if the care is ongoing. I love having animals around: not just dogs, cats and all the rest! So if you have other ones to take care of, please let me know. I don’t see it as extra work. I love every breed, size, and temperament without exception.

Ilgaz really saved me, because my usual sitters were not available and I was struggling to find someone who could stay over for this week long trip. I appreciate her for that. And, at the end of my trip, my pets do seem like they've been well taken care of. However, I found communication extremely difficult, even leading up to the trip: she asked what time she should be at my house and then never told me what time she would be there. I had probably two days of radio silence leading up to the sit. She ended up texting me after the arrival time I had sent, saying she was on her way and would be late. I was already anxious about her unresponsiveness at this point, so I had my boyfriend come over and feed my pets and let my dog outside that morning, because I wasn't sure she was honestly going to show up. When she texted a concern to me - for example, not being able to find my indoor only cat - she wouldn't text a resolution (i.e., I found the cat where you told me to look). I had to consistently ask for updates and photos while I was on my trip, and I got really sparse communication even then. The one time she was extremely quick to respond was when I said I'd be sending my boyfriend over to take the trash bins down to the curb (you have to come into the house to get the from the garage). She responded immediately, offering to do it instead. I didn't want to press the issue, because I don't want to make sitters feel like they're unsafe at my house, and it sounded like she did not want him coming in. She did not take the bins out, because the kitchen trash can wasn't full (?). The general lack of communication and the confusing texts that I did receive make this a poor match for me for future sits. I appreciate the fact that she was able to help on very short notice, but I am too anxious a pet parent to be okay with this level of communication.

Ilgas took great care of our pets while we were away! We have a senior dog and she was great with our old lady. We also have a very nervous cat and she was very patient with him.

Ilgas was absolutely amazing to work with! Very communicative & updated us almost hourly! So thankful we booked with her. Our babies loved her, it was the best thing to see our dogs loving on her! We will definitely be bringing them back to her when we visit San Francisco! Dont question booking her, just do it ! 🥰

Very kind and professional. Pups came back happy and healthy!

Penny loves her. She takes her on trips and other adventures haha

Very responsive and easy to work with!

Schedule
I live in Soma and Berkeley (%50-%50) and work across the San Francisco Bay Area as an artist, painter, filmmaker, and founder of Qreine Hats. I spend most of my days writing scripts, painting, and developing new film projects, so I truly enjoy being in a peaceful home environment, reading, writing, creating, and cuddling furry friends while I work.
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I currently offer pet care mostly in my clients’ homes so that their animals can stay in their own familiar surroundings where they feel safest and most comfortable. I easily adapt to new spaces, treat every home with care and respect, and make sure each pet feels calm, loved, and well tended. They can also board with exceptions.
A typical day
My typical day revolves around quiet creative work, writing, painting hat designs, and managing film projects, so I’m usually home and present with the pets. I step out briefly for groceries, a gym class (1/2 days) , or to write in a nearby café. If your dog enjoys outings, I love bringing them along for walks, café breaks, or light errands. Feeding, playtime, walks, and cuddles naturally weave into my daily rhythm. Evenings are peaceful, and I love winding down with pets nearby. Their soft snoring sounds create a sense of home and comfort that makes any place feel warm and alive.
