Pet care experience
Former pet parent / current foster
I had my own personal dogs for over 20 years in total but do not currently have any pets. As my schedule allows, I help out with short-term fostering for a rescue that I adopted two of my dogs from. All 3 of my dogs ended up with health issues in their old age so I have plenty of experience giving medications, feeding special diets, assisting with mobility issues, etc. Because my boy was dog reactive, I became a master at 'crate/gate/separate' when fostering while he was alive. However, I intend to only sit animals that are from the same home at one time so the animals do not face any restrictions needing to avoid animals they do not live with.

Ratings and reviews
Great experience! Ila was reliable, communicative, and clearly cared about my dog. I really appreciated getting updates and photos while I was away. My dog came home happy and well cared for. I’d definitely book with them again!

Ila was the best first dog sitter! I was so nervous and anxious about leaving my puppy and she was so great at sending detailed updates and pictures every day! I hope that Duke gets to grow up with her and we will always use Ila when we need someone to watch him! She was great! He also had a UTI and she had no issues giving him his meds for us! I am so grateful for her!

Ila was great. Sent a ton of photos every day. My dog had his own vacation while we were away with her. Will definitely rebook with her for our next trip.

Schedule
I work from home (day job) so I will be around most of the time during the care dates with the exception of any planned events outside of the home (which likely would not be more than a few hours at a time).

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I have a fenced yard (4 feet) for quick potty breaks (I do not leave dogs unattended in my yard). For walks, I can use a double leash/collar if needed for extra security. I do have a shared fence line with a neighbor dog that is reactive so, when needed, I run a line of chicken wire to keep dogs in my yard from being able to reach that fence. The neighbor’s dog is my primary reason for marking ‘no’ to un-spayed/neutered. I don’t leave any dogs I watch unattended in my back yard but he’s a Cane Corso that’s not neutered and my fence is only 4ft tall so I figured better safe than sorry.
A typical day
I work from home so I cannot offer much excitement during the work day. I try to do a morning walk every day and then use the yard for remaining potty breaks. I live across from what’s called a park where lots of people walk their dogs so there’s always interesting smells to stimulate the brain. It’s usually empty / no other dogs when we go early but if I’m watching a reactive dog, we’d take a different route. I like to take the dog(s) I’m watching in my jeep if I run errands that I’m not needing to leave the vehicle (like grocery pick up) but skip this when it doesn’t bring enjoyment for the dog.
