I'm currently working remotely, part-time Tuesday through Thursday. My work is pretty flexible and I can take it with me wherever I go, though I do require notice so I can prepare and make adjustments if needed. I'm open to negotiating outside of calendar hours listed. Just reach out and ask! If I'm unable to make it work, I'll let you know.

I'm a fun-loving soul that, simply, adores animals! I'm happy to care for your pup or meowser at your East Bay home. I can stay or stop by to play, spend quality time, or just water, feed, and walk your furry friend if that's what you need. While I haven't any formal medical training for pets, I'm detail oriented and good with instructions. I'm here to help out, so if you have any questions about special needs, just ask.

Information Ikeena H. would like to know about your pet
Let me know about special requests, needs or just preferences ahead of time so that I'm prepared! I'm happy to do what I can to make the experience enjoyable for your special one. Write down anything that will help remind me of your pet's unique list of "Do Nots", and be sure the list of emergency contacts are accessible!
A typical day
I absolutely love game play! If your pet has a favorite game, leave a note for me on where to find it. I'm good with creating fun things to do, like volunteering at the senior center for "pet day" or bringing "Blueberry-Watermelon" ice cubes for hide and seek on a hot day! Finding safe open spaces to walk like Dracena Quarry Park, Botanic Regional Preserve or Kennedy Grove could give your pet just the change of scenery they need for an adventurous outing with me! We can stop by the nature center for scent enrichment or take the upper trails for a bit of incline hiking to work those underused muscles. I'm happy to cheer your pup on while he or she plays Brain Teaser or Brick Puzzle--or enrich your kitten's feline instincts with a feathery game of chase; and after your pup/kitten is thoroughly "pooped" (no pun intended), we can watch an episode of the Dog Whisperer over cuddles and a healthy snack!

Pet care experience
I've worked my entire 30+ year career taking care of people and their animals. I've five years in private in-home care for seniors, eight years in childcare, and over 10 years caring for the pets of my friends, family, and relations thereof. Cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, and even a pair of ferrets! I'm pretty good at connecting and animals tend to read that. I'm all about healthy treats, balanced food options, great nutrition, and appropriate exercise; and as a former chef and caregiver, I love cooking for pets too! While I don't currently have any pets of my own, I'm also happy to just chill out with your pet for anxiety reducing calm and comfort. Need someone to be attentive and sensitive to your pet's needs? I'm your Girl!
Reviews

I am so grateful to have found Ikeena here. My dog has anxiety and Ikeena immediately put him at ease and took great care of him. She asked thoughtful/caring questions since my dog has some special needs. She took my dog on hikes/walks in the park and took excellent care of him. She sent videos and photos too.

We joined Rover hoping to connect with someone who is kind, responsible, caring about animals and above all, patient, who we could forge a relationship with that would be durable for the long-term. Ikeena has all of these qualities. As a family that travels regularly, whose family and friends have generally all grown-out of the idea of a week at our place as a mini-getaway, we are so thrilled to have connected with her. We got to know each other over zoom and some schedule walks and impromptu hellos and Ikeena dealt with our nerves of building trust with aplomb. Never were we made to feel silly for wanting to meet again or another walk or for having a several pages long doc about staying at our house and caring for our sweet little brown boy, Chicks. During her recent stay here we barely worried about a thing. Ikeena kept in touch with us regularly and Chicks seriously enjoyed being not just cared for, but spoiled by her. She went above and beyond!
