Fun and patient dog-lover sitter in Govan 🐾

!!GET A 15% OFF YOUR FIRST BOOKING WITH MY PROMO CODE: https://www.rover.com/sit/idoh81223 I have lived surrounded by pets most of my life (stray dogs my sister used to bring home, domestic cats, turtles and fish). I lived with my family dog, Molly, for about 14 years and she left a mark in my heart. When I moved to Scotland (about 10 years ago) I lived with dog owners and looked after them from time to time. I knew I wanted to be surrounded by animals so I volunteered to look after my friends and co-workers pets any chance I had. I've gone in long walks with Misty and looked after Willow (border collies), challenging but rewarding task, as Willow is a reactive dog. I have done some dog-sitting in Edinburgh with Kya, a lovely black lab and that was an amazing experience. I even lived and learned how to take care and hang out with Cluji, a cute and cheeky domestic parakeet. I have also looked after Vor in Glasgow (a friend's old German Shepard, he is a sweetheart but big and strong boy!). Most recently I have been looking after my flat-mates Chihuahua Charlie, who is certainly a grumpy (but many times loving) old boy. I have gone in long walks with my friend and her two rescue Greyhounds, Polly and Frankie and learned lots from her as she is quite an experienced dog parent. I volunteered to look after someone's pet rats and that was so much fun! I even volunteered at an Edinburgh-based small pet foster organization and looked after small rodents for a while. I have a deep love and passion for animals, I enjoy being around them and I am a very understanding and patient person of every pets needs and characteristics. I have dealt with a range of personalities and behaviours and I love making animals feel safe and loved. A lot of my friends own pets so I have access to their knowledge in times of need on top of my own personal experience.

Idola is a fantastic sitter who looked after Goose for 3 weeks for us. She was superb in her updates and info, both requested and provided. Would have no hesitation booking goose in for another stay. He came home in looking and acting very happy and comfortable from his stay.

Our dog Maple spent 6 days with Idoia whilst we were on holiday. She took excellent care of her with regular walks and making sure she was overall well taken care of. She sent us daily photos and videos and honestly Maple couldn't be happier! Highly recommend!

Another great stay with Idoia, Jet is shattered after spending some great time with her favourite sitter. Jet is always excited to stay there and pulls to get in the building. Couldn't recommend Idoia enough.

Schedule

I'm currently working 30h/week at a charity coffee shop. I tend to work between 8am and 6pm (6-8h a day). My partner, Nick (who works from home) will happily look after your pet while I work. We will go on long walks and spend time together at home once I finish work. On my days off I will spend most of my time with your pet and we can hang out or go on short / long walks and adventures (depending on their needs).

Where your pet will stay

Safety, trust & environment

We live in a third floor flat with a lift, in a quiet area (Govan) with a back-gated communal garden. Our home is located just a few minutes walk from Elder Park, so we can have plenty of walks and play outdoors. We also live near a train and bus station so if your pet is happy to travel on public transport we can go for further adventures.

A typical day

Depending on your dog's needs we will go for short local walks or long ones and adventures. We can play at home and we can take some day breaks as we have access to a back shared garden and a park nearby. If your dog likes to stay home we can hang out together and they'll get plenty of pets and chill time. The flat is spacious so if they want some space to be on their own there's room for that. We'll do our best to stick closely to your pet's usual routine, including regular feeding times, walks, and any necessary medication

Just a quick note — We won't be able to look after your dog if they have separation anxiety and can't be left alone. There may be times when they are left alone for up to 6 hours, as I work in the city and my partner may be out (gym, errands, or working from a café), so it's important that your dog is okay being left home alone for short periods. We’d also need to know in advance about any specific triggers or fears they might have — especially around walks. For example, if they’re reactive to other dogs or anxious in certain situations, that would really help us plan ahead and adjust things as needed to keep them comfortable and safe. Thanks for understanding! :)
