With a large backyard and roofed outdoor patio, my dogs back at home in California live both inside and outside, depending largely on the weather as both have thick coats making them prefer the cool outdoors air. When they do sleep outside, they are crate trained to sleep in their crates until the next morning when they are let out. When in doors due to harsh weather, they are allowed in the first floor where they spend most of their time in the living room lounging. They are always given two 30 to 45 mins walk in the morning and evening. When I am there visiting, their walks average an hour each time. My dogs are bathed and fully groomed about every 1.5 to 2 weeks as they spend most of their time outside in the backyard so need to be readily groomed. They are brushed almost daily.
