I grew up with animals, dreamed of being a vet, but pursued art instead. (Sometimes, financially-speaking, I question this decision ;)). My husband and I want a dog more than anything, but our living situation makes that impossible. If I volunteer at a shelter I will adopt everyone, so this is how I will get my doggy fix. I love all animals, advocate for them in my work, and want to help love and provide for these sweet creatures. I am active and love exploring forests and beaches with my son, so there's never a dull moment! IMPORTANT: We have a 4-year-old who loves animals and is very good about “gentle touch” and being soft and slow with animals, but your fur baby will have to be good with kiddos in order to stay with us or for us to housesit at your pad. Drop-ins ok. When caring for other people's pups there are a few rules I follow: - I never leave them alone out of my range of vision. - I do not allow them to run off-leash while under my care as an extra precaution against accidents (especially during hiking expeditions). - I will only let them meet other pups on walks and such if you say it's ok. I know it's fun for them to sniff other canine-butts, but you just never know. - I will likely have a stroller or kiddo with me, so non-pulling dogs are preferred though not necessary. - I have a thing with excessive amount of slobber. Sorry. For example, I’d love to walk, pet or drop in on your Newfoundland, but staying here would be problematic.
