Rescue Owner, Behavioral, Medical☀️

☀️ Hi there! We’re Holly & Andrew! We’re a work-from-home couple dedicated to rescuing and caring for animals in New Mexico. We’re the founders of Pitties and Kitties Rescue of New Mexico, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.🐾 We welcome all dogs and we can handle most behavioral or medical needs. With more than 8 years of fostering and volunteering across multiple organizations, we’ve worked with just about every personality and condition imaginable! Holly also brings a year of veterinary office experience and a year of working as a foster coordinator in a shelter. We’ve been hosting pups on Rover for about 2 years, and we love it! Our yard is fully enclosed with a secure 6-ft concrete/wood fence for playtime and safety. 📚 Experience Highlights: • 3+ years operating our own rescue, 8+ years fostering/volunteering with shelters and rescues, 2+ years boarding dogs with Rover • Extensive experience with shy dogs, quirky behavioral dogs, reactive dogs, special-needs dogs, and everything in between (including “normal” dogs, if there is such a thing😄) • Skilled in reading dog body language and supporting nervous or reactive pups • Daily hands-on interaction with dogs thanks to our rescue work and boarding schedule 🐾 Special Accommodations We’re Happy to Provide: 🐶 Dog Selective or Not Dog Friendly? Our home is fully baby-gated to allow complete separation as needed between common areas such as our living room, hallway, and bedrooms/offices. We can keep your pup comfortably separated the entire stay if needed. We also have a gated pen in our living room so more selective dogs can still hang out while the other dogs are out! We have several yards that are all fenced to ensure separation as well. 💊 Medical Needs? Holly has vet clinic experience and we’ve cared for many medical fosters. We can confidently assist with most routines and medications, just let us know instructions! We may incur an extra charge of up to $10/day depending on the medical needs, which includes adding pills to meals. 🫣 Shy or Wary of Strangers/Men? We adore the shy babies! We go slow, respect boundaries, and help them feel safe and loved. (They’re Holly’s favorite 🥹) 🍖 Resource Guarding? We separate feeding by default and can manage guarding around toys, people, or other items as needed. ❤️ Bottom Line We truly believe every dog deserves a safe place where they feel comfortable. If your pup has medical or behavioral quirks, that’s okay! Just share anything helpful during booking or the meet & greet 💛 ———————————————————

Holly and Andrew were such a gem to find!! They have the perfect set up, clearly understand dogs really well, and took incredible care of Rhy while I was out of town for the holidays. I will (and already have) rebook with them. Could not recommend them enough!

Communication was clear, consistent, and friendly throughout the entire stay. They took great care our dog, Cooper, sent regular updates, and made us feel completely at ease while we were away!

Holly and Andrew were great with Hammer. They set up a meet and greet prior to my booking to ensure that Hammer would be accommodated, answer any questions I had, and introduce him to their animals. It was a safe environment and they truly seemed to care about taking care of him. They kept prompt communication and sent photos and videos of his care daily. Was such a relief to find them!

Doggy Day Care • Jul 17, 2024

Holly and Andrew are great! Ody is a reactive dog who gets overly excited when he sees other dogs, but Holly knew which dogs to introduce my dog to first, and knew how to introduce my dog to them without any issues. When I dropped Ody off I could tell he was a little nervous, but by the time I picked him up he was having so much fun he hardly cared I was there! Ody got to play hard and socialize with other dogs which is exactly what I wanted. When we got home that afternoon he was tired out and he slept the rest of the afternoon and evening and I could tell he had a lot of fun. I can’t speak highly enough of Holly and Andrew, Ody was well taken care of and had the best time, and I felt comfortable knowing that my dog was in great hands.

Holly & Andrew can host up to 1 pet per night
💊Pills or Other Medical Needs: We *may* incur an additional charge up to an extra $10 per day. This includes adding pills to meals. 📆Meet and Greets: We do not require a meet & greet prior to booking with us but may have some questions for you prior to or during drop off so we know what to expect. 😴Crating: We crate all personal, foster, and boarding dogs at night or whenever we are away. This is to ensure everyone’s safety and please be aware this is our general rule, especially during the first boarding session with us. We just want to make sure everyone is safe when we are not around to supervise. We certainly do not intend to leave any animals in crates for an excessive amount of time or while we are home! We also utilize indoor Ring cameras so we can keep an eye on any boarding dogs that are crated while we are away. If a crate is an issue for you or your dog, we can chat about an xpen or a free roam room. No dog or cat will ever be left to free roam our entire home unattended. 🐱Cats: We have multiple pet cats but we can keep them separated during the booking depending on the dog being boarded. If it’s a new booking, we may test your dog(s) to see how they interact with our cats if they have not been around cats. 🐕Boarding Multiple Animals: We do occasionally board more than one animal at a time depending on the dates. We will always have foster animals in our home as part of our rescue work so please keep that in mind too. We only take on more boarding dogs if we can manage it. We know our limits and we generally take on more boarding dogs when we have a repeat client and know their behavior and accommodations. 🥩Feedings: We feed all animals twice a day and are unable to feed more than that unless there is a specific medical need. Feedings more than twice a day due to medical needs may be subject to an extra charge of up to an extra $10/day. 💉Vaccinations: We do not require your animals to be vaccinated but please be aware of the risks of bringing an unvaccinated dog into our home (we have boarding dogs, foster dogs, etc coming in and out on a daily basis). We do ask that you make us aware of any missing vaccines. We run a rescue and want to make sure our foster animals remain safe from exposure to severe illnesses that are prevented by vaccines. We also want to ensure other boarding animals are safe, so we will handle unvaccinated dogs/cats in our home appropriately. (Can only be housed in specific areas, and extra PPE/cleaning protocols are initiated). 🦴Intact Animals: Intact animals can be boarded with us on a case by case basis. If your animal is intact, please inquire with that being noted. If accepted, boarding an intact animal will result in higher rates.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
