Pet care is what we do full time, so our schedules are structured around caring for animals every day. Because there are two of us, we are often able to be flexible and work together to find a schedule that makes sense for everyone involved. We always do our best to make things work for each family, but our biggest priority is making sure the pets in our care feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. If your pet has specific timing needs, routines, or preferences, please let us know and we will be happy to talk through what works best.

Safety, trust & environment

We do not currently care for pets in our own home, as we have a senior Chihuahua who very much enjoys being the tiny ruler of his kingdom. When caring for pets in their own homes, we take the time to do a thorough walkthrough and ask detailed questions about their normal routine, feeding schedule, medications, favorite spots, quirks, comfort levels, and anything else that helps us care for them properly. Our goal is to keep your pets as safe, comfortable, and relaxed as possible while their humans are away. We know every pet and every household is different, so we do our best to follow their usual routine and make their time with us feel calm, familiar, and low stress.

Information Hilary L. would like to know about your pet

The most helpful things for us to know are your pet’s normal routine, feeding schedule, favorite treats, food preferences, medication needs, temperament, and anything they especially like or dislike. It is also helpful to know about any allergies, medical conditions, mobility issues, fears, triggers, handling sensitivities, escape habits, leash behavior, potty habits, crate routine, favorite hiding spots, and how they usually respond to new people, other animals, loud noises, or changes in their environment. The more we know ahead of time, the better we can keep your pet comfortable, safe, and cared for in a way that feels familiar to them.

A typical day

A typical day depends on your pet’s routine, but we like to keep things familiar, comfortable, and fun. Most days start with breakfast first thing in the morning, followed by a potty break, some playtime, and a walk or trip to the park if that is part of their normal routine. After that, we usually settle in for some rest, snuggles, and quiet time. Later in the day, we make sure they get dinner, another potty break, and time to get out some energy before winding down for the evening. Our goal is to keep their day balanced with care, activity, comfort, and plenty of love while their humans are away.

Pet care experience

We are a husband and wife pet care team, and caring for animals is what we do full time. We run a private pet care business and use Rover to fill in the gaps in our schedule, so your pets are never just squeezed in around a completely unrelated job. This is our everyday life, and we truly love what we do. Between the two of us, we have experience with dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, personalities, and energy levels. We are comfortable with tiny lap dogs, large breeds, seniors, puppies, high-energy dogs, nervous dogs, reactive dogs, and pets who just need a little extra patience and understanding. We are not Fear Free certified, but our approach is very fear-free focused. We pay close attention to body language, comfort levels, trust, and consent-based handling whenever possible. We never want pets to feel rushed, overwhelmed, or forced. Our goal is always to help them feel safe, comfortable, and understood. Every animal has their own personality, routines, preferences, quirks, and needs. Some dogs need extra walks, playtime, structure, or a few more trips around the block. Others need a calm presence, slow introductions, or someone who understands that “difficult” often just means they need a different approach. Please let us know if your pet is anxious, reactive, shy, selective with people or animals, sensitive about handling, or has a bite history. Those pets are genuinely some of our favorites to work with, and we are always happy to talk through their needs ahead of time so we can make sure everyone feels safe and set up for success. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, companionship, structure, couch snuggles, or just someone kind and steady to keep their routine consistent, we would love to help care for them.

5/5 Stars! I am absolutely thrilled with the exceptional care Hillary and her husband provided to my beloved dog, Taz! From the moment I dropped Taz off, I knew I was leaving him in capable and compassionate hands. Despite a few unexpected mishaps, including Taz's Houdini-like escape into a prepared crate in the house, Hillary and her husband handled the situation with professionalism and calm. They ensured Taz was safe, happy, and fed on time, giving me complete peace of mind while I was away. What truly sets Hillary and her husband apart, however, is the genuine love and care they show to the dogs in their charge. It's clear they have a deep passion for animals and take the time to understand each dog's unique personality and needs. I highly recommend Hillary and her husband to anyone seeking top-notch pet care. They are trustworthy, reliable, and truly exceptional in every way. Thank you both for taking such wonderful care of Taz – I'm forever grateful!
