I am pleased to say that I am now retired so have plenty of time on my hands. Having lost our beloved dog towards the end of 2025, I now have some empty time which is filled nicely with so many gorgeous dogs.

Safety, trust & environment
Our house is free for pets to use as their own. It is spacious, warm & comfortable. I have a purpose built ‘dog room’ for washing muddy paws off or a full shower if needed. We have underfloor heating which most of our ‘guests’ seem to enjoy very much. We have a fully enclosed large veranda at the back of the house. The garden is very large but although fenced, would not be suitable for a dog off of a lead as there are little holes in the hedge. I always keep my dog on a lead for safety when I take them into the garden.

Information Helen W. would like to know about your pet
As a dog owner, I totally understand how important it is to know that your pet’s needs are totally taken care of and that the care is as seamless as it can be between owner and sitter.
A typical day
I would usually take a lead from the dog and work out what they like to do for enjoyment. I have had dogs who love chasing a ball or a stick and others who are just happy to sniff around in bushes etc., and do their own thing. I am happy to follow owners suggestions too as they will obviously know best! I feel that being retired and having very few commitments, I am always around to give pets my full attention. This is particularly beneficial if I care for pups, young dogs and unwell dogs who need that extra bit of attention and care.

My dream occupation!
Pet care experience
As a child and an adult, I have always had at least one dog in my life. As a pet owner for so many years, I have probably experienced most situations that pups to oldies can present with. I feel very well qualified to detect when a pet is happy or not, healthy or not. I have had a life-long love of all things animal. I particularly enjoy the company of dogs. I am fascinated by their individuality and I am constantly surprised by their intelligence. I have learned to never underestimate their abilities! We no longer own a dog of our own. We had to say goodbye to our darling King Charles Cavalier called Marvin in Nov. 2025.

We are so lucky to have found Helen to look after Eddie - she is great! She sends regular updates, which are very reassuring. He’s clearly right at home when he stays with Helen :)
