Pet care experience

Chesham Moor based couple, experienced pet-sitters

We’ve both grown up around dogs and Kurt (my partner) has helped look after his family’s four dogs (including two rescues) since he was a teenager. As adults, we’ve spent several years pet and house-sitting professionally, caring for dogs, cats and even the odd horse in other people’s homes. We’re confident with rescue animals and have lots of experience giving nervous pets the extra time and care they need to feel safe. These days, we’re settled in a terraced house with a fully fenced back garden, loads of indoor space, and direct access to woodland walks - ideal for active dogs and fresh-air snuffles. We’re also used to hosting dogs overnight, managing complicated feeding routines, and administering medication if needed. Kurt works full time from home as a freelancer and loves any excuse to step away from his desk for a walk or a cuddle. Helen works full time too, with three days a week spent at home. Your dog (or cat) will always have company, and we’re able to give them attention throughout the day - we don’t do loads of meetings or calls, so we’re very present and hands-on. We’d love to have our own dog but can’t commit long term just yet, so being able to look after yours is the next best thing!

Helen and Kurt are great. Floyd can be a handful but they are really fantastic with him. They take him on big walks in the woods (his fav) and send us pictures/ updates throughout his stay. We’ll definitely be asking them to take care of Floyd again.

Axl loved his stay with Helen! He’s a larger, nervous dog who takes a little extra understanding and TLC. Helen and Curt made us feel really at ease and took time to get to know Axl. He clearly had a great time!

Helen and Kurt were absolutely amazing hosts for our cocker spaniel Bodhi over a weekend. He was taken out on lovely long walks where he got to chase the ball relentlessly - his favourite thing in the world! I think he missed them when he came home! Thanks again.

Helen took amazing care of Oliver during his stay from 16/12 to 06/01. She provided a warm, safe environment and kept us updated with photos, videos and messages. He was happy and well looked after. Highly recommend Helen for anyone looking for a loving and reliable sitter!

Helen and Kurt were absolutely lovely and I felt very relaxed about leaving Bongo with them. He clearly had a great time and was very happy! I also appreciated being sent photos so I could see he was enjoying his holiday. Thanks so much for looking after him.

Calendar and availability

Schedule

We both work from home, so we’ve got lots of flexibility throughout the day for walks, cuddles, and general company. Kurt is a freelancer and always up for a break, whether it's a stroll in the woods or a bit of playtime in the garden. Helen works from home three days a week and is also around for walks and attention. Between the two of us, there's always someone home and available, which means pets get plenty of care and companionship.

Safety, trust & environment

We have a fenced back garden and plenty of indoor space for pets to stretch out and feel relaxed. We’re happy to accommodate dogs with specific feeding routines, administer medication, and keep things calm and comforting for nervous animals. We’re also very clean and respectful when staying in someone else’s home, and always aim to stick closely to your usual routines so pets feel at ease.

A typical day

We live right next to the woods, so long nature walks are a regular part of our day - perfect for dogs who love exploring new smells and getting some proper outdoor time. If your dog prefers short strolls or chill time in the garden, we’re more than happy to tailor things to suit their needs. We’re also big on play, enrichment, and giving dogs our full attention - whether that’s games, training practice, or just lounging together.

It’s helpful to know about any medication, allergies, or specific needs ahead of time. We also like to understand how your pet is with other animals (especially dogs or cats), and what sort of walking environment suits them best. For example, Kurt’s dad has a nervous rescue German Shepherd who can be reactive and afraid of cyclists — so we’re well-versed in adapting routes and creating safe, quiet walking experiences when needed.
