Safety, trust & environment

I require a meet and greet for all new clients, with rare exceptions for emergencies. This ensures safety and comfort both for your pet and for myself. Health and safety are a priority to me. I am happy to wear a mask in your home if you prefer. I am fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and have gotten regular boosters. I grew up in a shoes-off home and will happily respect your choice regarding shoes. If your dog is comfortable in cars, I'm happy to take them to a fenced bark park to play. I do not handle dogs off-leash in unfenced areas.

Information Heidi T. would like to know about your pet

I do not have any breed preferences. I have experience handling larger breeds on walks and walking up to three dogs at a time. Before sitting a dog I would like to know its age, temperament, and dietary/health needs.

A typical day

Walks, fetch, dog parks - let's keep your pup active! If you have an older or less active dog, quality time is one of my love languages. I'll happily read a book and keep your dog company.

Pet care experience

Hello! My name is Heidi and I'm a social worker. I am 33 and live in East Austin. I am a dog person and cat mom (don't tell on me!). Please let me know if you have any questions about me! I can't wait to meet you. I have always loved dogs, but it wasn't until sophomore year of high school that my parents finally gave in to my incessant requests for a puppy. We raised Copper, a Catahoula/lab mix, from 8 weeks old. We took turns sleeping with him, potty trained him, walked him and taught him tricks. Copper is sadly no longer with us, but I loved raising him and watching him grow. I currently live in a housing cooperative with 12 human housemates, 3 dogs, 5 cats, and 5 hens. I have helped care for many present and past roommates' cats and dogs while they were out of town. I am not a trained animal behaviorist, but am happy to reinforce any training needs. I have limited experience administering medication to pets.

Heidi walked our dog for 4 days while we were out of town. I absolutely recommend her because she genuinely cares for each furbaby as if they were her own. She asked a lot of questions during her initial meeting with us and even took down her own notes. She was on time for each walk, gave detailed updates and sent a picture for every walk. I can tell she really cares and really made the extra effort to make sure my baby was comfortable and happy while we were away.

Heidi has cared for my doggo a few times this year and has always been super attentive to him. She also sent me frequent updates with photos from their outings while I was out of town! I can absolutely recommend Heidi!

I trust Heidi to give my high energy, special needs puppy with the care that he deserves. She is kind, patient, and a good leader to a young & rowdy dog. Additionally, she communicates well with people and is extremely professional.

Heidi’s super sweet and informative. She paid attention to my dog’s temperament and worked with me to get familiar with Peaches. I’m extremely pleased with Heidi.
