Heather can care for
Availability
I have an extremely flexible schedule, working from home as a bookkeeper and as a mobile acupuncturist. This allows me to be available for your pets morning, noon, or night, depending on their needs. Whether it’s an early morning walk, midday playtime, or evening cuddles, I can adjust my schedule to ensure your pets receive the care and attention they deserve. My flexibility also makes me a great choice for last-minute requests or unconventional schedules. Your pet’s happiness and well-being are my top priority!

Safety, trust & environment
Safety, trust, and a comfortable environment are my top priorities when caring for pets. I always ensure the space is secure, removing potential hazards and providing a calm, welcoming atmosphere tailored to the pet’s needs. I take the time to build trust with each pet through gentle, positive interactions, following their cues and respecting their boundaries. For in-home care, I maintain the pet’s usual routines and environment, including feeding, walking, playtime, and administering medications if needed. I stay vigilant about safety, such as ensuring doors and gates are secure, and I provide updates to owners for peace of mind. My goal is to create a stress-free experience where your pet feels happy, safe, and loved.
Information Heather S. would like to know about your pet
Depending on the service, it’s important for me to know as much as possible about your pet’s unique needs and personality to provide the best care. Key information includes: • Daily Routine: Feeding schedules, potty breaks, and exercise habits. • Temperament: How they interact with new people, other pets, or in unfamiliar environments. • Health Needs: Any medications, special diets, allergies, or existing medical conditions. • Training and Behaviors: Commands they know, any behavioral quirks, or tendencies like chewing, barking, or pulling on a leash. • Likes and Dislikes: Favorite toys, activities, or places, as well as things that might stress them out, like loud noises or certain handling styles. • Emergency Contacts: Your vet’s contact information and any emergency instructions in case of illness or injury. The more I know about your pet, the better I can tailor my care to ensure their safety, happiness, and well-being while you’re away.
A typical day
A typical day with the pets I care for is full of fun, love, and attention! Depending on their personality and energy level, our day might include a mix of activities tailored to their needs. For dogs, we’ll start with a refreshing walk or a playful run in the park, followed by some interactive games like fetch or tug-of-war to keep them active and engaged. For cats, I’ll provide plenty of snuggles, interactive play with toys like feather wands or laser pointers, and quiet time for companionship. If your pet loves adventures, we might explore dog-friendly beaches, hiking trails, or urban neighborhoods. For those who prefer a relaxed pace, we’ll enjoy cozy downtime with belly rubs, brushing, or simply lounging together. I also make sure to incorporate plenty of potty breaks, meals, and water refills throughout the day, keeping them comfortable and happy. No matter the activity, your pet will receive the love and care they deserve!

Pet care experience
Back in Oakland for summer adventures! Returning to San Diego August 2026. With over 30 years of experience caring for dogs, I bring a lifetime of love and dedication to every pet I work with. Growing up, I cared for farm dogs, cats, horses and goats, and since my 20s, I’ve been looking after city dogs & cats, giving me a deep understanding of a wide range of pet personalities and needs. I currently have cats at home, but I love the joy of walking dogs and exploring the outdoors with them. Whether it’s a fun beach day, a trip to the dog park, a leisurely stroll, or an urban adventure, I’m ready to make your dog’s day brighter. As a work-from-home professional, I’ve spent the last five years traveling regularly house and pet sitting, ensuring pets are cared for with love and attention while their owners are away. Let me treat your furry friend like family!

Reviews

Heather was amazing with my high energy zoo. They were so chill when I returned home. She provided great pics/updates along the way and took good care of my home as well. Would definitely use again and recommend!!

Heather was a hit with my senior dog Jax. He usually doesn't tolerate many people, but Heather was so kind and patient and after just one visit so easy to get along with Heather. Definitely will keep booking for the future
Heather is reliable and dependable. She has cared for my three cats while out of town on several occasions and given them all the pets and play they require. She is adept at administering medications and is attentive to the needs of my cats. Heather has a special place in her heart for pets and is amazing with our cats. 🐈 I would recommend Heather to care for your fur baby.
heather is an exceptional dog sitter and loving pet caregiver. she's been taking care of generations of our pets for 10 years. all our dogs love her and bounce all over her when she arrives. it's great to be able to go on business trips or vacations and sleep at night knowing that not only is our house taken care of, but our beloved pets go on hour long walks twice a day, are fed, loved, pampered, given the correct medication if necessary, cleaned up after. if there was such a thing a six star rating, heather would be awarded it. she's the only pet sitter you'll ever need.
