Pet care experience

My reviews speak for themselves 🙂

From historical restoration to live-in hospice, and being a life long dog owner and adopter myself, I’ve got decades of experience caretaking pets, property and people. For the last few years I've worked with 7 to 21 year olds with severe cognitive and behavioral challenges 🙃 which means I’ve been through additional care giver background checks and have first aid and crisis related training and experience. I bring common sense and resourcefulness that’s unfortunately hard to find. Dogs, cats, birds, goats, chickens, rabbits, tank pets, snakes, lizards, tarantulas, hobby farms, gardens and house plants… yes! Keep in mind a background check on a 44 year old covers far more than a background check on a 21 year old. I am a nondrinker, nonsmoker, non-vaper. If I was recommended to you but you’re outside Rover’s 60 mile radius, message me! I’m able and have changed my location to accommodate multiple times. There isn’t a limit to how far I’ll travel when timing and planning allow. I’ve traveled from the Midwest to Colorado, Utah, Georgia, Tennessee for previous sits and pet or vehicle transports. I am off my part time job 9 days at a time and with enough notice(2-6 weeks) that work schedule can be adjusted in order to make any distance and length of stay happen 🌎 Yes, my rates are flexible and change based on season, holiday, location, availability and stay length, please ask! Longer house sits tend to be what fills my calendar. The Long Haired Alaskan Malamute pictured most was my whole heart, he left us at 14, RIP Merv 2/25/23 ❤️

Safety, trust & environment

I MotoTag/AirTag pets in my care. They’ve never been needed but it's easy extra protection. I have an emergency contact who always has my location and two back up sitters I would fully trust with my own home and pets. Walks, play, cuddles, naps, training, reinforcement and boundaries- I got you. Let me know about hikes and car rides, too! Would they prefer to come along to run a couple errands or stay home? Pup cup?

Heather was amazing! She was very responsive and sent a lot of pictures while we were away. I knew my girls were being well taken care of the whole time. I definitely recommend her and will book with her again when we go on vacation.

Heather was terrific. Her sharing of photos and stories of her time during her stay was welcome, funny and heartwarming. Our dog was at ease, jovial and a bit tired when we showed up, all good things for a German Shorthair Pointer. In the past we have relied on friends and family, none of whom were available this time, so we went with Rover. We couldn't be more pleased.

Heather was absolutely amazing and caring with our medically complex dog. She provided excellent care and kept us informed. For the first time, we feel fully comfortable leaving him. I recommend her to anyone who loves their dog,

This was our first experience using Rover. We have a sweet but older and highly anxious dog. Heather was wonderful!! She took time to meet with us and our pup in advance, which helped us feel very comfortable leaving him in her care. Our dog has many funny quirks and she took them all in stride. We received daily updates and photos. When we arrived home he was calm and relaxed; he had clearly been given plenty of love, cuddles and attention while we were gone. The house looked great. She kept us abreast of some minor house issues that arose during our absence. Heather communicated regularly both in advance of our reservation to make sure everything was set and during our trip. She clearly loves her job. We hope to have Heather stay with our dog in the future. We highly recommend her services!

Schedule

Rover is *not* a side hustle for me. My part time schedule and shift length at Chileda is designed to be compatible with prioritizing the wellbeing of your pets and home. We’ll discuss timing and schedule compatibility first thing. I’ll let you know if and when there’s overlap or not. That said, with enough notice I can make anything work ✅ I do some other gig work when time allows. Please note Rover rates for any sitter do not include around the clock care. I’m open to considering it at a higher rate. If our schedule isn’t compatible I can highly recommend two other sitters.

I don’t mind quirks or challenges but please, for the safety of your dog and others, proactively fill me in on the odd or reactive things about your pets. If they’ve bitten a person or animal I expect that to be mentioned in the initial request along with how you’ve moved forward with such situations. I’m not timid but transparency is key here. Withholding this information puts everyone at risk is is how the emergencies happen and are poorly handled that unfairly get Rover it’s negative reputation. Please don’t let us be one of those stories
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
