Safety, trust & environment
When I’m in a client’s home, I make it a priority to follow the pet’s normal routine and schedule. This helps ease the anxiety of having someone new in their space while their parents are away. I also respect your privacy—I know how it feels to have someone go through your belongings, and I could never imagine violating that trust.
Information Heather R. would like to know about your pet
How does your pet handle fireworks or thunder? For some animals, these noises can be very stressful—especially when they’re away from mom and dad and around someone new. Do you give them medication? Do they have a favorite hiding spot? Would you prefer I leave them alone or try to comfort them? My goal is to help them as much as I can.
A typical day
I’m open to anything that will entertain your pet—I don’t even mind looking a little silly! I love taking dogs on long walks or playing fetch with a tennis or soccer ball, just as much as I enjoy flicking a feather on a string for curious kitties. The real question is: what does your dog (or cat) love to do? Whatever it is, I’m in!

Pet care experience
I’m new to the area and excited to be living on the East Coast! I’ve spent my entire life around animals, and about 10 years ago I ran a successful pet-sitting business on the West Coast. I’m excited to get back to doing something I genuinely love. Over the years, I’ve cared for a wide variety of animals—dogs, cats, hamsters, hedgehogs, lizards, snakes, horses, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, and plenty of others. I’m comfortable with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities, from Pit Bulls to Chihuahuas and everything in between. I’m also comfortable caring for senior pets, puppies, anxious pets, animals with special needs, and pets who need medications. The one exception? Spiders. (((shudder))) Never spiders. I know every animal has their own personality, routine, and needs, so I’m happy to follow your instructions and care for your pets the way you do. Whether your pet needs a brief visit or several hours of companionship, I’m happy to tailor each visit to their needs. Walks, meals, medication, playtime, or simply some company—I’m happy to give your pets the attention they deserve. At this time, I’m offering check-in visits only and am not able to provide overnight care. I have a special-needs rescue dog of my own who cannot be left alone overnight. However, I can make as many visits during the day as your pets need and can stay for as long as necessary during each visit. I have plenty of references from previous pet-sitting clients and am happy to provide them upon request. I understand that trusting someone with your pets - and your home - is a big deal, and I want you to feel comfortable knowing they’re in good hands while you’re away. My goal is to make sure your pets are safe, happy, comfortable, and cared for just as you would want. My #1 priority is to provide loving care when you’re not there.

Heather is awesome and our dogs love her!
Heather has cared for my two lab mixes, Lola and Daisy.....and my cat, Punk several times. They all LOVE her. My dog, Daisy, actually whimpers when she leaves. I think my dogs love Heather more than me. This should bother me, but I think it is great. I leave knowing that I have nothing to worry about. I know they will be well cared for, she plays with them and they will be tired and content when I come home. I like that Heather always sends me photos of each fur kid while I am away. .....and I swear my house is cleaner when I come home, than when I left.
Heather is an extremely experienced animal caregiver, not only for cats and dogs but all manner of animal from chickens to cows and horses and then some. She is always on time, considers and takes care of every last detail and is committed to providing the best care for any and all animals. She has stepped in to watch over my fur crew on multiple occasions and the process has been seamless. She spent quality time with them, took care of all of their needs and even sent pictures of them and kept me updated on their activity and just took all around exceptional care of my pets as if they were her own. Myself and my pets highly highly recommend Heather for any of your pet care needs!
Being new to the Five Mile area & finding the right fit for a pet sitter was a bit daunting until I met Heather. She is very personable and professional & trustworthy. She will set up an initial appt to meet you and your pet and get all the information to provide the best care. I have used her for over a year when we plan to be out of town for more than overnite. She is very flexible, always texts and sends cute photo or video of her visit & will come by as often as needed, which gives me reassurance that all is well. Believe me...you don't need to fret.... your pet will be in the best hands possible!
