Availability

For walks and drop-in visits, I typically have availability in the mornings, around lunchtime, and during the late afternoon and evening hours. I work remotely, so house sitting is a great fit for me. My set-up is quiet and portable, which allows me to work from anywhere and spend lots of quality time with your pet throughout the day. I am a virtual teacher, and my students (mostly kids!) are always delighted when a cat tail or curious pup makes a surprise cameo. I occasionally step out for errands or social plans, but depending on your pet’s needs and your preferences, I can ensure they are not left alone for more than 2–4 hours at a time. I highly encourage a meet and greet before the stay so we can get acquainted and I can meet your pet and learn all about their routines and care needs.

Safety, trust & environment

When I house-sit, I don’t just care for your pet like my own — I treat your home with the same respect and attention. I follow your pet’s established routines and rhythms closely, and I’m a neat, careful, and considerate houseguest. After a trip, clients come home to a happy, relaxed pet and a space that looks just as they left it - as if I was never there at all!

Information Heather P. would like to know about your pet

Please share details about your pet's energy level, age, personality, and any special needs or medications. I want to follow not just your routines, but also any training you've established! If there are specific words, phrases, or commands that work best with your pet, I'm all ears. My goal is to give them the most consistent and reassuring experience possible.

A typical day

I can provide play, stimulation, and exercise for high energy pets or peaceful company and snuggles for quieter ones. I will inevitably make up silly songs about your pet and sing to them as we go about our adventures.

Calm care for happy pets!

Pet care experience

I am a lifelong animal lover with years of experience as a pet parent, shelter volunteer, and professional sitter and walker (Chicago Bark District). I believe pets are family, and I treat them with the same patience, gentleness, and attention I would want for my own. One thing clients often mention is that I have a calm, reassuring presence with animals — especially those who are shy, anxious, sensitive, or slow to warm up. Helping them settle in, build trust, and feel comfortable is one of my favorite parts of this work. I’ve supported cats and dogs (and rabbits and more) with a wide variety of needs, temperaments, ages, sizes, and energy levels. I understand how important it is for pets to feel relaxed and secure when you're at work or traveling - that's why I will honor the care, attention, and routines you've established in every way while you’re gone. When you book with me, you can feel confident your best friend is in compassionate, dependable, and experienced hands.

Heather is an incredibly kind, genuine, and attentive person, and it shows in the way she cares for animals. She listens so thoughtfully to every detail and truly wants to understand what each animal needs to feel safe and comfortable. I trust her completely — both in my home and with my fur babies — which says everything. I know my dog has accepted her into the family, he's so relaxed with her and it feels good to know he loves spending time with her. You can just feel that she has a kind soul and a real love for any animal that crosses her path. I'd absolutely recommend Heather for pet sitting/dog walking — truly any pet would be lucky to be in her care!!

Heather is a super reliable house-sitter and and great with animals. My cat is high energy and needs a lot of play and attention, and I know she's well taken care of when Heather is here. Definitely recommend!

Heather was incredible with our two senior dogs. Leaving older dogs can be incredibly stressful, but she exceeded every expectation. It was clear from the start how genuinely she loves animals. Highly recommend!

Heather is a very reliable caregiver and lover of animals! It always feels good when we’re away to know that our cats and home are in good hands. She has also given some special care when pets are sick— giving medicine, etc. My cats love her and I do too. Highly recommended!
