I am currently between full time positions and have an open schedule. I can house sit or board pets at my apartment in downtown Detroit. If boarding at my house, a crate is required for when I am not present. If there is a concern with our pets interacting or you have more than one, my dog can stay with my parents.

I live across the street from an unfenced dog park, and less than half a mile from 2 fenced in dog parks if your fur baby enjoys interacting with other dogs. I also live close to Belle Isle where we could go for hikes. A crate is required for when I leave my apartment, just due to the size of my place, and if my dog is here as well (she will also be crated when I leave).
Information Heather J. would like to know about your pet
If your dog has any medical or behavioral concerns, I would need to know that ahead of time. Nothing is a deal breaker for me, though! I have experience using muzzles and e-collars if those are tools your pet needs, but would of course only use them if provided by you. If your pup needs some help with training, I do have experience as a trainer and would be able to offer that service for an additional fee. I can provide videos of our training sessions and give you strategies and tools to work on at home to learn with your pet as well!
A typical day
I live close to the Detroit Riverwalk and love going along there. I also live close to the Dequindre Cut for a fun walking route, free from the concern of vehicle traffic!

I love all dogs, and especially am open to working with reactive dogs due to my own experience with my current pupper, Zena. I’m open to meeting any pet to see if we can work something out, as I know how hard it can be to find care for reactive pets. I also have experience caring for older and sick pets. My previous dog had a heart murmur from age 7 and lived to be 14 before crossing the rainbow bridge. The concern with leaving a pet with health conditions, mild or severe, is also a challenge and I hope to be able to offer reassurance so families can take vacations or go on trips comfortably. I’ve had a dog since I was 8 years old, and love working with animals. I worked briefly as a professional dog trainer, and unofficially helping friends and family train pets, while also continuing to train my own reactive pooch.
