I am at home the majority of the time, and as a lover of animals and nature I like to spend as much time outside as I can, which is also beneficial for the children and visiting dogs. We are lucky to live in a beautiful semi rural village with a field just round the corner from our house and plentiful dog walking routes such as Tangmere airfield. We also have a medium sized secure garden.

Safety, trust & environment

We provide boarding services in our home, which was previously inspected by a dog boarding company and deemed ideal, due to the high fences in the back garden. We regularly check the fences for gaps. We have stair gates so are able to separate the dogs from the children if they need some quiet time. We prefer to meet and greet in advance so that both parties can check for suitability.

Information Heather J. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog has any medical needs. Because of having young children in the house the dog needs to be used to kids and noise. I like to have as much information possible so that we can fully prepare for the dogs stay, such as feeding and walking routines, likes and dislikes, whether they travel well in a car and whether they can be left alone at home for short periods.

A typical day

We are lucky to live in a semi rural area with varied routes for walks. We have a large field just by our house perfect for dogs to run around if allowed off the lead. We also have a mini woods down the road and Tangmere airfield. My son loves to play games like fetch and tug with dogs and we all enjoy walking together as a family. We love to give dogs lots of affection and mental stimulation. We have puzzle feeders, snuffle mats, a paddling pool and lots of dog toys to create an enriching environment for the dogs who come to stay with us.

Pet care experience

We have been dog boarding in our home since July 2022. We achieved our official license in May 2023 to provide doggy daycare and boarding for up to three dogs at a time. I attended an in person dog first aid course in May 2023, for which I received a certificate which is valid for 3 years. I then achieved a level 3 Ofqual Canine Care, behaviour and welfare certificate through Canine principles. Since then I have achieved certificates in Canine enrichment, dog basic dog grooming and basic dog training. We now have our own pets-a cat and a dog and would like to start boarding again after a break of one and a half years to focus on other things. I am at work Mondays to Fridays from 11 until 2pm so dogs need to be able to be left during this time

Heather was meticulous in looking after our Cavapoo "Minnie". She's quite a needy dog (I think they're bred that way) and Heather asked us to drop her off briefly a couple of weeks before the booking to check if she would be comfortable in her home. She also asked for dietary requirements and our vet's contact details just in case something happened. Heather messaged us when she had Minnie and sent pictures too. Our only concern was whether Minnie liked Heather's company so much she wouldn't want to come home! Thanks for taking care of our dog Heather - never mind five star, you score ten out of ten with us!

Heather was very professional & has a caring approach. She enabled us to attend a family funeral 275 miles away from home looking after our dog Daisy who has separation anxiety. Although clearly happy to see us on collection after spending the day with Heather you could tell Daisy had had a good day & wasn’t stressed. Thanks Heather:

Sadie had a lovely week with Heather and her family. The regular feedback was really good and some flexibility around drop off and pick up times was also appreciated. We would definitely use Heather again.

We chose Heather based on her reviews and were not disappointed! Our dog had not stayed away before so we were anxious how he would cope. We need not have worried as he had a great time with Heather and her family. The daily photo also helped us relax to see him out having fun.
