Availability

I currently do not have a job, so I am available full time, any day or time. I have my own dog who prefers to not let me out of his sight, and will cry if I leave him at home alone, so getting a traditional job while living in an apartment is out of the question. With that said, I would need to bring him with me. He is going on 10 years old, and has never met a dog or person he didn't love. I am glad to bring him for a meet and greet before any commitments are made.

Safety, trust & environment

Every dog has a way to let you know they need something. My dog prefers to attempt cuddles when he needs anything, leaving me playing a guessing game until I get it right. He gets super excited when I get it right! As a senior dog, I leave his food out 24/7, and check it in the mornings when I get up and at night when I go to bed to make sure it's not empty. If I notice that it's empty at any point during the day, I simply refill it. Same with his water. His potty schedule is pretty much the same - first thing in the morning, any time he asks during the day, and then one last trip out at bedtime. I know not every dog can follow this schedule, but I have also had dogs who needed me to set alarms to take them out every hour or two, until they were properly house trained. All I need from you is your dogs schedule.

Information Heather D. would like to know about your pet

If your pet is on medication, I need to know if it's contagious - I don't want my baby getting sick. I also need to know what works best for your dog to take any oral meds. Mine will lick any peanut butter or cheese off and spit the meds back out, so I have to drop it in his mouth and hold it closed, while gently rubbing his neck until he swallows it.

A typical day

I love to play fetch or tug with dogs. If you don't have a fenced yard, I will gladly take them to the dog park for outside fun. My dog loves to chase his little red dot (laser), I can do that, too, if your dog enjoys that. I'm also great with cuddles or rough housing. There's not much I won't do to entertain a dog.

Pet care experience

I have had dogs my entire adult life, up to 7 at one time, including a husky. I now only have 1, since I had to move and left the rest with my old roommate (some were his anyway, and I took the one that had chosen me as his human). Every dog I've ever had was properly trained to at least sit on command - with or without a treat. When I had the 7, I could have the pack surround me, and call them one by one for their treat, and only the one called would reach. People have watched my dog's behavior out in public and have aske if I could train their dogs! I have no formal training for dog training, but I did grow up watching Caesar on Animal Planet, and implemented his behavior training techniques with all of my own dogs when they were puppies, or from the time I accepted them in as strays. I have cared for others pets in the past, but not in a professional capacity. I sat for a friend of mine at her house, caring for 3 dogs and a cat. I fed the cat in the morning and at night and cleaned her litter box once a day. The dogs got fed on the same schedule, and spent the majority of the day outside in the fenced back yard unless it was raining. I went outside and threw balls and sticks for them a few times each day, for about an hour or so each time.

Heather did a wonderful job taking care of my puppy Bam! Bam loved being with her. She also sent me video and pictures showing how much Bam was having a good time. I would highly recommend her for your dog!

Heather used to look after my animals when I worked out of town, she's very respectful, upbeat and all of my dogs loved her which is rare bc Merle doesn't like anyone.
