Pet care experience

My pets are my kids

I have been the first choice of many friends and family to care for their pets. Both in my home and in theirs. Just for an afternoon, for an entire vacation, and in sudden emergencies. I have two dogs and five cats, as well as a hobby bird farm. Lots of smells and cuddles to be had. I also am happy to stay in your home and care for your pet in their own comfort zone. My work is remote, and as long as you have wi-fi, I'm set up to be productive. I've cared for very old and too young rescues for both dogs and cats, including medication and funky feeding schedules. I've even helped socialize shy rescues and help normalize healthy potty habits.

I am happy to recommend Heather as a pet sitter. She watched my 2 dogs and 3 cats and went above and beyond to make sure my pets were happy and safe. Heather is reliable, trustworthy, and communicates extremely well. I came home to happy pets and tidy house.

Heather has pet and house sat for me dozens of times, and I trust her completely with my little zoo: Cinder the cat, Jeremy and George the guinea pigs, and my two dogs, Amber and Coal. And honestly, I’ve got some high-maintenance pets! Heather doesn’t just make sure they’re fed, safe, and taken care of. She makes sure they have happy, fun days and get all the love and attention they need. My dog Amber struggles a lot with separation anxiety, so having someone like Heather care for her is a godsend. Coal was a stray who recently showed up at our house, and Heather cared for him while he was still being housebroken and was terrified of pretty much everything. She was so patient and gentle with him, and she became one of the first people outside our family that he learned to trust. Heather genuinely LOVES animals, and she has a natural gift with them. Some people just seem to understand animals on a deeper level, they notice what they need, make them feel safe, and connect with them. Heather is absolutely one of those people. And I’m definitely not the only one who recommends Heather. You should see the absolute joy on my dogs’ faces when Heather comes over. Amber especially has completely imprinted on Heather like a baby bird and loses her mind with happiness every time she sees her. So I can confidently say the animals all give Heather their highest recommendation too. She’s also just one of the best humans I know. She’s kind, caring, trustworthy, incredibly reliable, and someone I never have to worry about when my pets are in her care. There really aren’t strong enough words for how highly I recommend her. If Heather is taking care of your pets, they’re in very, very good hands.

Schedule

I work full time fully remote, with limited travel. I always keep my calendar up to date with availability and obligations. I live in a rural area, so stay overs are preferred over drop ins, just because of travel time.

Safety, trust & environment

The pets come first! They rely on us for everything, so I'm always keeping an eye open for their needs. Sometimes it's a potty break, dinner, or their own space. We have an extra-large kennel we keep set up in the event someone needs it, and a small one we set up if someone needs a more enclosed space for comfort and safety. I love getting pictures of my cats when we leave on a trip, so I always reciprocate when I'm pet sitting for someone else. You will always know your pup is getting tummy rubs, or your Guinea pigs are getting their veggies at dinner time.

Pets

A typical day

I can accommodate a variety of energy levels. We can cuddle on the couch, or go exploring outside and splash in the creek. I worked during the day but rely on my animals to get me up and moving. Our days are full of tummy, rubs, and romps in the yard.
