Pet care experience

Dog Mom, Your Pet Comes First!

I’ve grown up with dogs my entire life, but over the past four plus years on Rover, my experience has expanded far beyond my own pets. Through Rover, I’ve cared for dogs of all sizes, all breeds, and all ages, from very young puppies just weeks old to senior dogs well into their golden years, including dogs 15 years old and beyond. I’ve cared for cats and kittens, and a variety of reptiles! I’m comfortable and confident working with everything from small breeds to extra large dogs, and I’ll be honest, big dogs are my favorite! I’m not intimidated by size, strength, or energy level, and I understand how different needs can be depending on age, breed, and personality. I’ve worked with playful puppies, high energy dogs, laid back couch companions, and seniors who need a slower pace and extra patience. One of the things I’m most proud of is that many of the families I’ve cared for through Rover are long-term and repeat clients. I continue to watch several of the same dogs to this day, which I believe speaks volumes about the level of care, trust, and consistency I provide. Building strong relationships with both pets and their owners is something I truly value. While I’m not a professional dog trainer, I’ve completed multiple training classes with my own dogs and have hands on experience with reactive dogs as well. I’m comfortable recognizing triggers, managing environments, and making thoughtful decisions to keep dogs safe, calm, and comfortable. In addition to dogs, I’ve also owned and cared for other pets over the years, including cats, reptiles, birds, and more. I fully understand that every animal is different, and I take the time to learn what makes each pet feel secure and happy. I treat every pet I care for as if they were my own! Schedule and Availability I work from home most days of the week, which allows me to be present and flexible throughout the day and provide attentive care. On the few days I may need to work in the office, I’m only about 20 minutes away and can plan accordingly around your pet’s routine. I also have strong weekend availability and am happy to accommodate a variety of schedules whenever possible. Because of this flexibility, I’m able to keep routines consistent, provide regular potty breaks, and give plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. Home and Care Environment My pets are truly my family, and my home reflects that. I provide a safe, comfortable, and pet friendly environment with plenty of space to relax and move around. I have a large fenced yard, a walking trail around the block, and a small park nearby. Daily walks are a normal part of our routine and typically range from about 30 minutes up to an hour and a half, depending on your dog’s age, energy level, and needs. I enjoy getting outside with dogs and exploring parks and trails, and I’m happy to do the same with yours if it fits their routine and comfort level. That said, I fully understand that not every dog enjoys the same type of activity. Whether your dog prefers long walks, short potty breaks, backyard play, enrichment activities, or just extra cuddle time, I’ll adjust care to what works best for them. Care Philosophy I believe great pet care starts with trust, communication, and consistency. I’m very respectful of each household’s rules and boundaries, whether that includes furniture preferences, feeding schedules, leash expectations, or exercise limitations. I follow all care instructions closely and never assume one dog’s routine is the same as another’s. I’m attentive to behavior, mood, and comfort, especially with puppies, senior dogs, and dogs who may need a little extra patience or structure. My goal is always to keep your pet feeling safe, relaxed, and well cared for while you’re away. I also communicate regularly with updates, photos, and check ins so you can feel confident and at ease knowing your pet is in good hands. Experience as a Pet Parent I’ve used Rover myself to find sitters for my own dogs, so I understand how important it is to find someone you trust. I know what it’s like to leave your pets behind, and I don’t take that responsibility lightly. Because of that, I aim to provide the same level of care, attention, and peace of mind that I would want for my own pets. Many of my Rover clients return again and again, and I truly value the relationships I’ve built with both pets and their families.

Heather and Ryan are AMAZING! This was the first time for us to leave our 4month old puppy alone and we didn't have to worry about a thing! Daily photos and communication. They cared for Aspen as if he was their own! I highly recommend them! 10/10 and will definitely be rebooking them!

Heather and her husband Ryan pet sat my older, diabetic blind Yorkie, he was so well taken care of! They followed all of my directions to a T and I received updates and pictures throughout the week. I was very anxious leaving my dog behind as this was the first time using rover but they did a great job of putting me at ease. They were very comfortable giving my dog his insulin. They also left my house clean and picked up his poop! Overall I highly recommend them and will rebook again when I need to!

Heather was terrific with our dogs. Great communication. One of our dogs is blind and she was particularly careful with him.

A typical day

My favorite activities to do with dogs are go for walks and check out nature trails and parks. I also run and for those high-energy dogs, happy to take for a jog! I love mentally stimulating games such as wrapping treats/food in towels, lick mats and more!

To provide the best possible care, I love learning as much as I can about your pet ahead of time. Helpful information includes their daily routine, feeding schedule, supplements or medications, sleep habits, exercise needs, and any behaviors at home or on walks. Please also let me know how your dog does around strangers, other dogs, or new environments, as well as any quirks or preferences that make them unique. The more I know, the smoother and more comfortable the experience will be for everyone!
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
